Relictors Techmarines/Armoury

Right I'm just wondering about this issue, Relictors are quite happy to run around wielding daemon weapons and standards/icons but what about things like chaos equipment.

When the WD article came out all those years ago the squads on show had elements of chaos amour incorporated. Now I know that the relictors seem to sit in two camps on this. The more 'puritan' codex look and the more chaotic group. I sit in the "If works then use it" camp.

Now when daemon weapons are mentioned most people think more HAKKA, swords and spears etc. But what about the DAKKA side of things such as Kai guns. Also the clashes between the grey Knights and the relictors could result in more specialist weapons becoming available, e.g. psycannons.

With regards to these kind of weapons and their rarity, would the tech marines or chapter elite be issued with these? and would things such as incinerators be manufactured?

I'm thinking that unlike most chapters the Relictors armory would require another devision, one blended with the Librarium. After all, knowing which wire fits which plug is all good, but if the plug is connected to the warp its another matter.

At the moment a way of legally representing this might be to use a "warp cannon" conversion beamer on the master of the forge.

I've also been thinking on using the thunder fire cannon as a couple of things:

Psychic cannon powered by penitent witches as an energy supply/ammo (it is tempting to actually cannon ball them at the enemy).

Or a mobile pentagram/altar for A) Binding and <_< channeling the warp power into a radical Inquisitor/Psychic/Daemon host, with the tech marine on hand to shoot him if things get out of hand.

And I sit firmly in the other camp of Relictors thought.

My company use tainted weapons very, very sparingly and only under dire conditions.

Kai guns. Great idea and when I can work out a suitably impressive conversion method I'll probably make a unit of 'sternguard'.

Don't Psycannons need you to be a psyker to use them?

I like the 'warp cannon' idea but i can't work it into the asethetic I've chosen.

Psycannons supposedly require a psyker considering that they have no solid ammunition feed on the Grey Knight models, yes. It is not explicitly stated anywhere, however. Kai guns operate on similar principles but need not a psyker's concentration and can be powered by any sufficiently strong emotions or willpower, so the gun does more of the work instead. They also share Strength 3 - the Kai gun has significantly better AP value instead of ignoring Invulnerable saves.

Psycannons probably would not be available to the Relictors despite meeting the Grey Knights in combat. The Grey Knights should be like other Space Marines in their maintenance of equipment and their fanaticism toward their brothers and weapons, and would not hesitate to crush the Relictors a second time to search their dead for any missing gear.

The psychic siege weapon counts-as Thunderfire would be very interesting, however. It may not be possible to steal psycannons from the Inquisiton and from the Grey Knights, but nobody can stop someone from trying to build a similar weapon. A Techmarine experiment and trying to engineer his own Kai gun or psycannon using capture psykers as fuel and ammunition thralls would be an interesting explanation that could stretch a campaign subplot. If he succeeds partway through the campaign, you could add Kai guns or something to your armoury for the rest of the campaign.

I have read something about these weapons in WD awhile ago but there was no real explanation. What are they, what do they do and to which current weapons are they comparable (since posting stat lines ist verboten).

If memory serve me right Kai guns were made by a weapons artisan culture or forge world which fell into the eye of terror. No laws of physics etc =massive warp bolter. Afterwards said world were not spared by there Chaos Conquerors.

On the master of the forge warp cannon: Conversion beamers are pre heresy, so unless gifted, found bought or stolen by the relictors I would not give it to them. How many traitor legions till have them? Iron Warriors maybe, but that don't mean that they are not making any new weapons, as above.

On the large psycannon I was thinking of it being more of a chaos tech or a mad inquisitors invention. Tech marine is there not in so much as to operate it but to make sure it don't go wrong. For energy just suck out of some witch. Point and squirt.

Warhammer Hellcannon !!!!!!! Just an idea. Really I wouldn't use that often I don't like the idea of the Thunderfire cannon that much but I do like the naughty stuff.
