Skirax
Now, some may remember that near a year ago, I said I would start Wolves. This was because I liked the play style and wanted a more fluffy chapter. I was advised to wait for the new 'dex, and here it is. Some may call me a gloy-supporter, but I was reading the article in Octobers White Dwarf, and...it inspired me, due to the fact that I had no idea Space Wolves had so much honour, and I trully loved the idea of Wolf Guard leading packs. So I've made my point, but I can't express my sudden love of the Wolves. Words can't describe how much I love the honourable side of Space Wolves. So, advise to a new Blood Claw would be useful, and I'm also thinking of getting Lukas the Trickster. Decoy
Firstly, lose that stupid Chaos-Avatar. :) Secondly, the word "But" invalidates every word said before it. Thirdly... Welcome to the Wolves, mate. Grab yourself an ale, and prove your worth. Skirax
yay! cricketofdeth
To each his own, are the reasons for collecting an army. For me, Space Wolves have a lot of:"I do what I want." I like that in my astartes. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179264-im-sorry-but/#findComment-2121183 Share on other sites

Kaan
Grey Hunters should form a solid block in your new company. You can customize them for the mission/task at hand, but you will never go wrong depending on them to accomplish their mission. Bloodclaws are more specialized and have a place in such armies that prefer to assault early and often. Long Fangs, with their age and wisdom, should be given their proper reverence in the army. They will likely take to the battlefield in greater numbers than have been seen in the last decade. The absence was noted. Wolves are cunning. They will strike in packs and against a weakend foe. Embrace this philosophy. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179264-im-sorry-but/#findComment-2121346 Share on other sites
Brother Amarel
yay! Recognition! *grabs ale and glugs deeply* Ahh...Space Wolves, sponsered by Guinness! ;) That's not ale, that's stout :P While we're discussing the alcohol of vikings, as well as often flavouring their ale with herbs, they also drank a good amount of cider (made with either apples or pears) and occasionally wine (but that was the trickiest alcohol for them to make). And remember kids - drink responsibly if you're going to drink at all :). Skirax
Thanks for the tips Kaan, and nice to be back, Grey Mage. Ales all round, on me! Vassakov
Firstly, as I've been laying all and sundry to waste for as longer than you've been a gamer, how could you fail to notice our glory and honour? :P Second, as the venerable Brother Amarel has correctly stated, Guinness is a stout. Though excellent. Wolves drink ale, mead and Jagermeister (I have all four though!) Everything else I was going to say... *shrugs.* Decoy and Grey Mage got here first. The Wolftime approaches... there are enemies to slay and glories to win. Go forth in the name of Russ and the Allfather! (PS: You'll always be a whelp to me!) Skirax
Thanks Vass, I noticed the glory before, but I'd only just found out the history of the Space Marines as a whole. Thorgrim Blackwolf
Welcome to the Fang and have a proper drink (Not Guinness ;) )! I too remember you floating round here a bit ago. It is good to see you join the right side with the wolves and that you have the correct avatar now ;) . The martial honour of the wolves that is heavily referenced in the fluff is one of the reasons that I joined in the first place. Sit down, have another ale and thats two rounds you now owe the Fang when you are solvent again! Cheers Thorgrim Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179264-im-sorry-but/#findComment-2121996 Share on other sites
DevL
Second, as the venerable Brother Amarel has correctly stated, Guinness is a stout. Though excellent. Wolves drink ale, mead and Jagermeister (I have all four though!) Only wolves with digestion problems and lack of taste bds drink Jagermeister. =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179264-im-sorry-but/#findComment-2122007 Share on other sites
Skirax
Are there any tips anyone can give me on building my army, and the cheapest way to paint them? Vlk
Personally, I don't give a damn of "martial honour". The only martial honour I respect is that which Ragnar showed at the beginning of Ragnar's Claw (if I remember it correctly, he didn't want to kill the retreating, cowardly traitor guardsmen with his sword - they were just not worthy enough - so he threw a grenade at them and shot them with a pistol :)). The Wolves as I see them are perfect, cunning predators that will use all means to achieve their goal - and that's the spirit I like! Are there any tips anyone can give me on building my army, and the cheapest way to paint them? My 1000 pts army is going to consist of a Rune Priest as an HQ, two squads of Grey Hunters in Rhinos, a squad of Long Fangs, a Vindicator and perhaps a Land Speeder Tornado. For 1500 pts, I'll just add another GH squad or perhaps a Wolf Guard combi-weapons squad in a Drop Pod and maybe another Vindicator and some fast attack choices (or perhaps another HQ). The best thing is - there are many, so many ways to build up a list which would be perfectly viable - add cavalry, add terminators, add wolf guard pack leaders, make a footslogging army, add dreads, blood claws, land raiders... - that making an army list is not difficult at all :P About the cheapest way to paint them - depends on what do you want them to look like. My first quite good-looking Wolves have been painted using DV8's Space Wolves tutorial. I'm just too clumsy so they don't look half that good but it's not insanely difficult. I'm not sure if you would consider it cheap enough. Another painter I admire is Zsoulless, at first I wanted my Wolves to look exactly like his but it's going to take a lot of practice before I'll be able to paint as he does and his dirty, metal style is kinda difficult. And of course there are many excellent painters here who use a more traditional blue scheme, I suggest you look at their works and ask them how the hell they do it ;) By the way, welcome to the Fang. I know exactly how you feel, I have wanted to play Space Wolves since this year's April. Then I saw a new codex was coming out so I waited and now I fell like the worst kind of bandwagonner ever.
