Help how should I use Fast attack units?

So even a Bike squad kitted out for tank hunting would still have very effective anti-infantry capabilities because of their toughness, attacks, and twin-linked bolters? Not to mention their cover save and turbo-boosting? What weapon(s) can an attack bike take, HB and MM correct and how many per 1 squad?
I always liked using the Land Speeders...assault cannon with a heavy bolter, the only bad part is you can only fire one or the other b/c they changed the defensive weapons rule... They also offer a good distraction and sometimes your oppenet will over look them until you blow up a predator with and assault cannon. I never really was a big fan of the blood claws with jump packs, dont think i ever will be b/c of the lower ballistic/weapon skill...I understand they are newbies n all but if ur gonna pay that much for a squad I would like to have atleast WS 4...The wolf riders are gonna be awesome it souds like they will benefit from + 1 S,T,A when they are mounted like that on the wolves..

From what I am reading, Not only do you not get outflank, but a WG who joins a WS unit will not get OBEL as well.

It seems GW left out that niffty little rule that allows WG to receive special rules of units they join. At least I can not find it. :D

WG Vrox.

You really can't go wrong with Swiftclaws, IMO. They're versatile, you can add a WG to them for added punch, and you get high toughness plus good attacks on the charge against infantry.

I'm also a fan of a speeder squadron used as "hammer into anvil." Also versatile, as you can combine weapon load-outs for both anti-tank and anti-infantry.

yup BS 3 and also attack bikes have to be attatched to bike units rather than operating independantly which is unfortunate. However they are only 40 pts with a hvy bolter

BS3 is a reduction, which will make attack bikes somewhat less effective than before; however, they are also cheaper now at 30 Points for a Heavy Bolter and 40 Points for the Multi Melta.

As far as how they operate, there is a tradeoff in being assigned to Swift Claws packs. The cost is that the whole unit has to shoot at the same target, which is a waste of your bikes twin-linked bolters when you intend to shoot the Multi Melta at an armored vehicle. The benefit, is that the Attack Bike can now be "hidden" within the pack, which makes it somewhat more survivable.

What weapon(s) can an attack bike take, HB and MM correct and how many per 1 squad?

Just one Attack Bike per pack, with either a HB (standard) or MM (upgrade).

If I assigned a wolf guard Battle Leader with saga of the hunter to a unit of Thunderwolves could the whole unit outflank? that could be a nasty suprise.

No. The IC does not grant his ability to the units that he joins.

Valerian

Thank you Valerian, you've been a lot of help in getting my own mechanized column sorted out. Even with the Bikes' reduction in WS and BS, if led by a WG I think they'll turn out okay. They're at least a guarantee to survive longer than land speeders, anyway, and that's always the tough part when fielding an armored column.

Just don't forget to give them all melta bombs and a MG, just in case the shooting attack does not weild results, you can always assult a vehical. In addition the Melta gun and MM will give you a pretty good chance of blowing up a tansport thus allowing you to assult the troops inside if you so desire.
