Morticon
I don't know if this has been addressed or not yet, theres a LOT of chatter on the new dex in this forum. But, I was wondering what you guys think about the (over) priced bikes and jump packs for WG ? Do you think it is intentional? Or do you think its a copy/paste error from the Wolf Lord entry? It just seems entirely counter-intuitive. A single wound WG model with a power weapon and jump pack is 53 points. A single wound WG model with a power weapon, termy amour and a storm bolter is 33. This makes no sense in my brain. I know some may argue balance - but this is a little odd, no? Others may argue fluff and that the wolves dont like to fly around the skies. That being said- what about bikes? I havent heard much issue about this, and maybe thats because in general players are very, very happy with the new dex (I would be too). So, this isn't really a whine about it..just a "Hey now, wait just a tick...!" kinda moment. Your thoughts wolves? Cut/Paste error or genuine odd forethought given. clanfield
im not worried about that but i find it funny you can take 2 stormshields though :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179460-wg-cutpaste-error/#findComment-2123712 Share on other sites
JamesI
I think its intentional to keep people from either making jump pack/bike wolf guard units (such as Vanguard Vets or Ork Bike Nobs) and to make it a big penalty if you want to put a Wolf Guard into a jump pack/bike unit of blood claws. Night Runner
I think this is intentional as well. GW want to gently direct SW players to take options that fit more with the fluff they have published in the recent codex. They see WG prefering terminator armour with Wolf Claws to riding bikes, so they have made WC cheaper and better, etc etc. I think we will be seeing the same philosophy imposed in the other new SM codexes coming out next year. Marek Grimfang
Im a little dissapointed PA WG cannot take heavy flamers. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179460-wg-cutpaste-error/#findComment-2123733 Share on other sites
Rokafort Stonewolf
Outside of gk, I think the last time a marine could take anything resembling a hf was codex: armageddon? That's been a while. More terminators, I say! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179460-wg-cutpaste-error/#findComment-2123739 Share on other sites

eyeslikethunder
Yeah never understood the anti-wolfguard bikers thing GW have. I mean the Lonewolves comic was a load wolfguard(they neither look nor act like blood claws) bikers roaming a tyranid infesting planet just for the fun of it so its in the fluff the jump packs i get the bikes i dont i hope its cut and paste error i mean those points are more in line with what i would expect total not in addition Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179460-wg-cutpaste-error/#findComment-2123833 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
I can see the discouragement of using a Jump Pack, but we should not be penalized for a WG Bike Pack. They may not "prefer" them fluff wise sure, but they sure would not treat a bike with the disdain they would a Jump Pack. CaligulaX
Meh, if you want fast moving Wolf Guard, just take Thunderwolves. Fluff-wise they ARE WG, and their rules are absolutely rock hard. The only thing you have to figure out is how you're going to model them. Unless, y'know, you like wolves riding wolves. Valerian
I would agree that it was probably an intentional decision to use points cost to help "shape" army list choices, without explicitly making certain choices off-limits. Why... because they say the wargear is simply worth what its worth- and then you get problems like, well if thats the case why are combiweapons different prices on most of the units they are available for? As cheap as 5 pts or as much as 15. I think there is currently a conflict in the design team, and that there are oddities arrising in the current codices about that- some feel that a weapon is a weapon, and others go for overall cost effectiveness. I expect atleast two more codices before they come to a conclusion and begin to argue something else.
