I want a couple a tips for painting Space Wolves:

Firstly what is the best way to paint Wolves, and wolve skins? (i think probably uses grey, and highlight/drybrush black or dark grey..)

Skin and Hair? What colours are meant to be used...?

What is the best basecoat? (someone said add regal blue to space wolves gray for basecoat, and highlight pure space wolves grey)

I think that is about it..... maybe

Well I use shadow grey for a darker look on my wolves, then I wash with badab black for shading and it provides a nicer finish and then I will start using space wolves grey for highlighting.

Pelts I paint bestial brown and I should really drybrush them but not sure what with.

As for faces I can't help you, I don't paint them currently.

For brown pelts I do the following:

Bestial brown as the foundation; brush on a coat of snakebite leather making sure not to let it sink into the crevases; I then dry brush on a light coat of bleached bone. I then give the area a coat of chestnut wash and then a final dry brush of bleached bone again.

Faces: I totally suck at them but there are some great guides on here in GW on how to do faces.

for my actual wolves, i try to mix the colours up a bit, not every wolf looks the same, but start with a dark grey and work lighter, with the underside usually a bit darker than the rest of the wolf. think to yourself "what would keep them hidden in the snows of Fenris?" The 'leather' part of the pelt i usually do with assorted browns. cannot for the life of me racall them. aha, what a great help ey?

undercoating. spray paint black. codex grey over that (except for joints), then apply my own colour.

as for faces, i usually start with bestial brown over chaos black. then i do a heavy drybrush of dwarf flesh, light drybrush with dwarf flesh/elf flesh, then highlight with elf flesh.

For skin use the foundation paint Tallarn Flesh. Add white or a light flesh tone to highlight and burnt amber (not black) for shadows.

When painting marines, my advice is to always paint the metalics first, then anything that needs drybrushing (like fur and hair) next.

The colour of wolves varies from browns to greys to blacks. Due a bit of research first to see what colour you like best. Since SW are grey I tend to go with brownish furs with black markings most, in order to add a bit of contrast. Usually I block in the colours, from black to brown to white (or light tan). Then I give a brown wash to unify the pattern and then drybrush with lighter shades of brown.

I prefer my marines grey rather than blue grey, and darker rather than lighter, so I just use Adeptus Batttlegrey for a base coat. I also use it as an undercoat.

But before you start painting got to the SW gallery and take a look at the models of the members, there might be a particular colour scheme that catches your eye. If I was you I'd contact the wolf brother and ask him to help you. I'm sure he'll be willing to give you a few pointers.
