It was good to see the 13th ride again in a new form, and even though we lost wulfen they are back in the squads and with rending, hahahahha. He took pics so i'll put them up when he sends the link. My list: RP, melta bombs WP, melta bombs 6 scouts PW,PP,MG 5 wolf guard (taken as leaders for my 4GH squads and scouts) 2x PW,CMelta 1x PF,BP 1x PW,Cmelta terminator 1x PF,AC, Terminator 10GH, 2MG,PW,PP,Motw 10GH, 2MG,PF,PP,Motw 10GH, 2PG,PF,Motw 10GH, 2PG,PF,Motw 2x 10 wolves with cyber wolf 6 LFangs 4ML,1LC His list Librarian Vets in pod with 5 Cmelta and 4 Cplas, heavy flamer 5CC termies in LR (with librarian) 2x 10 tac squad in rhino 2x speeder with flamer,MM Vindicator. That was ok, because all his tanks were hidden so had to move full speed and pop smoke/hide. Drop pod landed behind the GH squad with WP in and tried to melt/plasma them. 9 dead GH! And 2 dead wolves caught in the flames. http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o107/hiveminion/batrep%20SW/DSCN3974.jpg I surge forwards but bring 1 wolf squad 1 GH squad and WP and 2 surviving pack members back to assault his vets, a full pack of wolves on the charge get 31 attacks! RP tries stormcaller but fails due to psychic hood. Turn 2 LR rumbles forward and unleashes terminators on 10GH with WGL and RP. They murder me in CC with 1 TH/SS loss and I fall back. RP dead (1 objective for him) Vindicator kills a couple of GH. Rhino’s and speeders advance. I’m out for revenge again, so the termies take an AC, 2PG, 2MG’s a PP and tons of bolter shots for the loss of his only 1 LC termi! But 31 wolf attacks kill 2 and the last termi runs! LFangs immobilise LR. The scouts arrive and only destroy the weapon of the rhino with tac squad inside, i have to blow it with krak grenades. The explosion kills 2 scouts and 2 marines inside. http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o107/hiveminion/batrep%20SW/DSCN3981.jpg Turn 3 The other Rhino unloads marines and his librarian joins them for a charge on GH squad with AC WGL. by the end of the combat his lbrarian lies dead and the AC termi is the only survivor from the LF and is surrounded by 8 marines. One land speeder flames my scouts and the tac squad rappid fire them, amazingly the PP and MG scout survive. Vindicator blows up a wolf pack they run, (no ATSKNF!) The other speeder tries to burn the other wolf pack only killing 1. Again i have to counter charge so i charge 9 wolves into the belegured WGL's combat i wipe them out with the loss of 2 more wolves. The scouts shoot then charge a speeder but only stun it. My WP charges the LR killing it with MB's, my lone WGL assaultcannons the vindicator out of existance the wolves try and kill the last speeder but fail to wound. the LF fail to kill the rhino. http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o107/hiveminion/batrep%20SW/DSCN3985.jpg Turn 5 i have 2 objectives alive and he has one. The speeder moves up and melts my AC WGL (boo) my wolves die to bolter fire. I kill the speeder but only kill a couple of his last tac squad. i also charge the last TH/SS terminator with a GH pack of 3 and kill him. its game over at 2 objectives each, but as i still have about 500 pts on the table i get 2 points giving me a minor victory, hurah! Men (wolves) of the match were my wolves they are more scary than they were in EoT, I have 26 of the buggers an 2 packs of 15 sound appealing. Footslogging is hard work you always take the charge but with counterattack and alot of GH and wolves you can retaliate (nothing new there really) Basic WP and RP with meltabombs arnt bad for 100pts. I didnt take any sagas as i dont know them yet. This was only my 2nd game of 5th ed and i have to learn the differences in close combat and shooting. the Long Fangs are a steal in points now cover doesnt block shooting so much and they are alot cheaper. 13th co are still viable, and if i had 2000pts i would have taken my bike pack, but at the moment they have 2 PF's. I appreciate the comments and impressions, I'm still playing 4th (3rd?) edition wolves and am eagerly looking forward to what the new codex will do for me. Good to hear that wolves work well, I've been thinking of adding them to my list. It also looks like my Long Fangs will be making a comeback. They've been at the bottom of the carrying case for too long. Corver Posted September 26, 2009 Author Share Posted September 26, 2009 Yeah, Long fangs are going to replace my predator. 1 lascannon cant kill them and the new cover rules means that you dont need the mobility and they can always sit in cover. 4ML,1LC was ok, but i think 2 LC's would be a better option. Yeti Posted September 26, 2009 Share Posted September 26, 2009 Yeah, I was thinking 2x Lascannon, 3x missile. I'm not a fan of templates, but with kraks you can go after light armor or tough units. Heavy flamers make tau go pop! or AC's or cyclones if they have alot of tanks. Also put 1 TH/SS in each squad, he can try and soak the high ap shots.
