Wolfwing, my pasty behind!

Well, it's straightforward, folks. Wolfwing is a pansy name for our All-Guard army. Loganwing is a pansy name. We do "Deathwing" better than DA by far, so let's revamp it, and make it ours.

What are some suggested names for this new army type?

Mine:

Wolfstrike

Loganguard

Wolfdrop (Operation Dumbo-drop kinda thing... Heh.)

Loganfall

And, just for (more) absurdity (yet oddly my favorite)

Falling, Flailing First and Finest of Fenris (Also known as the F5, from the windstorm-classing system.)

Yeah, I know, a lot of people are comfortable with Wolfwing, but... Meh. This is what happens when I'm bored and tired of waiting.

I think 'wolfwing' works quite so well because it's simple snappy and alliterative. So we're looking for two words to conjoin which are one syllable long and both start with the same letter.

Nothing springs to mind unfortunately

~O

......Grimguard.

I say an army of Wolf Guard in TDA. They are not a special formation/company as Dark Angels are, it is simply a grouping of Wolf Guard led by Grimnar.

Incidentally is there any fluff for Logan leading all TDA forces? Because that is what would make me do this, if the fluff is interesting.

I'd run with Grimguard or Russblade, with my personal interests running more towards the latter.... ALthough...

Grimblade?

Sounds too generic, honestly, as do all the names with just Wolf tackled on somewhere. I'd either make a solid reference to Logan as the list revolves around taking him (Logan's Heroes was made in jest, but it could work, as could Logan's Company, Logan's Speartip, Logan's Fine Dining Establishment, etc.) or just something simple like 1st Company.

Please don't use "Wolfdrop". It honestly sound like something you would step in somewhere in a woods. Truth be told, I like the old standard Wolfguard. Though I am curious. With the release of the codex(Yay!! it only took 11 years.Yay! 'Bout damn time too.), was anyone suprised to see this? Cuz, to be honest, I really don't see the need for it.

I agree about the "Logan" part, specifically it being something directly to him. Hence, Grimblade, only because of the Grimnar. But I can see where that can get misconstrued.

And to be fair, it's not like Deathwing or Ravenguard are anything pertaining to Dark Angels at all. They sound like a Chaos army and a Nilla Marine army, respectively.

"The Varangian Way"

For a start, the Varangians were elite viking warriors that later formed bodyguards for dyanstic rulers in the late 9/10th Centuries. Secondly, its the name of Turisas' second album, and if every there was a band that suited the Wolves it was they. Or possibly Amon Amarth.

See, this is the exact opposite extreme to simply using generic fantasy-esque names: very obscure, specific names. I mean, don't let me stop you from using the name to refer to your army, but just about anyone who hasn't heard of that band or that historical group of warriors would be left scratching their heads.

Logan's Heroes.

Nice. That's what I'll be calling Logan/WG lists from now on.

Oh dear, what have I done?
