Decoy
What's sad is that I really rather like Logan's Heroes. It describes the army, the origin, the purpose, and the style, all at once. I think I may have to go with it. cherrboh
im just going to stick with loganwith or grimguard. if i drop him with anything, itll heck, any kind of formation based around a characted it will be "x - bomb" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179611-wolfwing-my-pasty-behind/page/2/#findComment-2125977 Share on other sites
Night Runner
I'd run with Grimguard or Russblade, with my personal interests running more towards the latter.... ALthough... Grimblade? Sounds too generic, honestly, as do all the names with just Wolf tackled on somewhere. I'd either make a solid reference to Logan as the list revolves around taking him (Logan's Heroes was made in jest, but it could work, as could Logan's Company, Logan's Speartip, Logan's Fine Dining Establishment, etc.) or just something simple like 1st Company. Logan's Spear or Speartip Logan's Claw Logan's Hunt or Great Hunt Logan's Call Logan's Gathering Anything but Logan's Heroes! MayorDaley
I will using "Logan's Heroes". It may be corny, but it certainly conveys the point of the army. It's alot like Kastansa (from Seinfeld), it gets in your head. Brother Grius
See, this is the exact opposite extreme to simply using generic fantasy-esque names: very obscure, specific names. I mean, don't let me stop you from using the name to refer to your army, but just about anyone who hasn't heard of that band or that historical group of warriors would be left scratching their heads. The Varangian Guard is a rather well known part or Europe's history. I would hope most Space Wolves players would be familiar with it at least a little bit. It is where the name Russ comes from. Hfran Morkai
But really though, what's in a name? I've been thinking the same, it's a way for us to categorize and identify something, humans tend to feel uncomfortable if things aren't clearly defined Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179611-wolfwing-my-pasty-behind/page/2/#findComment-2126193 Share on other sites

Ominous Anonymous
How about "The Pack of the Great Wolf"? Too long. Put another way, anyone can say Air Cav and immediately images are conjured of Imperial Guard in Valkyries. Names like "The Pack of the Great Wolf," "The Speartip," etc., don't conjure up units of Wolf Guard. Logan's Heroes, on the other hand...<_< But, again, this is mostly subjective and you should use what you like. Canis Wolfborn
I prefer the Varangian Guard. Logan's heroes seem like a pansy name best left to the DA. DV8
Loganwing. The reason all TDA (or predominantly TDA) armies are called "...wing" us because, unfortunately the Deathwing did it first. Its an iconic army, and whenever I think of an all TDA army I instantly think of two things. The Battle for Macragge (Ultramarines 1st) and Deathwing. It's become such a memorable word that adding "...wing" to the end of an army name is to signify that "yes...it's all terminators...yes you may now cry". The preceding word is usually some discriptive signifier to provide further information. Much like Lysanderwing implies an Imperial Fists TDA heavy army led by Lysander, Loganwing implies a Space Wolf FDA army led by Logan Grimnar.
