Wolfwing, my pasty behind!

Ok, I acknowledge that all the Nordic mythos stuff is a little obscure - but let us not beat around the bush: This hobby, this thread and indeed this army idea are nothing if not a series of convoluted injokes that only a tiny group of people will ever appreciate. Therefore it should be embraced, and not shied away from.

Wolfwing, whilst perhaps a perfect summary feels to me too cheap and too much of a cut'n'paste from the Deathwing to fully encapsulate the army. The Deathwing are broadly speaking "just" Terminators, and a pure Deathwing army is just that. A Wolf Guard army can be so, so much more and the name should reflect this. Yes, you can only take TDA (and you should at least once, preferably vs the DW player :P ) but you've got so much more than the Deathwing - Bikes and Jump Packs can be taken, Dreadnoughts and Lone Wolves fit the mythos of this force perfectly.

Wolfwing is, to this Wolf too easy, too stale, too cliched.

Hell, it's just too Codex.

AWESOMELY AWESOME WOLVES IN AWESOME ARMOUR.

AAWAA :P I am blinded by the AWESOMENESS of the AWESOME ANSWER

I like Hammer of Russ or Wolfstrike, a bit of a sledge effect so I'm trying to convey that...

$0.02

I don't think anyone here really has anything against using wing, but we're the Sons of Russ so why should we copy anyone else, especially Lion El'Johnsons mob (One of the new young players at my group thought his name was Lionel Johnson lmao)

Well it's just a name for reference - everyone knows that 'Wolfwing' = Termies (which is the point of using a name, I thought?) You can call them anything you like but it's likely that when you explain it, the person you're talking to is going to say: "Oh, you mean 'Wolfwing'" :P.

As for someone thinking it's "Lionel Johnson", that is the name of the bloke that the DA Primarch was ret-conned named after (due to Lionel Johnson being the gothic poet who wrote 'Dark Angels' - so not such a bad mistake ;))

You say you love the Wolves so much, but find not hesitation to exposing them to ridicule?

Yes, and how dare Sandy Mitchell insult the honour of the Imperial Guard with his comedic novels! :P And I'd thought the Wolves to be the least uptight amongst the Astartes...

EDIT: Here's an analogy the Americans posting here might understand: people in the media refer to any large scandal as 'insert scandal'-gate because one the biggest scandals of all time was, of course, Watergate due to who was involved and what it eventually accomplished. It's the textbook definition of modern-day political scandal on a national stage, just as the Deathwing is the textbook definition of an all-Terminator force.

An all-Terminator/Terminator-very-heavy army should be Wolfwing, so you remember who was doing it first. :P

Now, for an army simply with Logan Grimnar, the only appropriate choice is Logan's Heroes. The Wolfwing would, of course, be a subset of that.

While I have no intention of fielding an all TDA force (I only have 10 termies) I figured I would throw a couple of names out there:

Wolf Fangs (the bite is worse than the bark)

Since it's something that can only be fielded by taking Logan it should incorporate his name, with that in mind:

Logan's Claw (don't make me trim those nails)

Logan Guard (the weekend warriors)

What about Fist Of Russ.

I'd make a comment but as there are some children that read this forum....I won't.

We're Wolves, mate!

"BEHOLD! Fear my ultimate Fist! You will be Fisted until there is nothing left! Your army will be rent asunder by my fist, and your tender innards will come roiling out! From my fist! Prepare to have your :D beaten thoroughly by my Fist!"

Yeah, that'd... I just... Yeah.
