Melta Speeders or Long Fangs?

I am trying to tighten up my Logan Drop Pod list and I have finally given up on going for the Dreadnought, even thought it would look cool.

The obvious answer is Logan + Long Fangs relentlessly splitting fire when they land, however I wouldn't want to leave Logan with them and sink around 400pts into Chaos Termicide on steroids.

However for a similar cost to the Long Fangs you can get 3 Land Speeders with Multi Meltas. Depending on how you configure them (3 slots or 1 squadron of 3) they can possibly be as destructive as the Long Fangs, but more importantly they have a further use when it comes to repositioning to del with secondary targets and contesting objectives. They are also more durable to small arms fire and offer only 1 more Kill Point (or one less if you squadron them)

Anyone given it much thought?

I would say, despite the long fangs having gotten better in the new book, the speeders are still better tank hunters. And since they are vehicles, he has to choose wether to direct his at-fire to them or the terminators (who also pretty much need at-fire to go down)

That's what I thought. The Long Fangs have shiny new gimmicks, but still fundamentally they aren't the best option.

I think that's pretty much the same with the codex as a whole. The new toys aren't the strength of the book.

I think I am going to go for the 3 Speeders in 3 FA slots.

For pure tank hunting, your better off with either a LR or LS squad I like to run them in pairs myself. For light armour hunting 4+1 LF with ML is a can't miss coming in at 115. Add in a WG in TDA and CML/PF for support and more firepower at another 73.

Vrox.

Drop podding Long Fangs is an all-round bad idea. Frankly, for a similar price, you can have Wolf Guard with combi-plasmas/meltas that'll be almost as effective on arrival and continue to be useful afterwards. They can also receive a charge better than fangs .... and you will get charged, I guarantee it.

Relentless may be a useful rule for occasional usage, but I don't see dropping 400 points of your army into rapid fire range of the enemy to be a great idea.

Land Speeders are extremely useful. I've tended to use mine as disposable anti-tank weapons. 60 points sacrificed to take out a Leman Russ or Land Raider is always worth it, and sometimes they don't die meaning they can be used again.

Drop podding long fangs just seem very practical and as it's been mentioned before very pricey if you pair them with Logan.

The best way to use long fangs is for long range fire support, I'll be running a squad with Lascannons and Rocket Launchers but they'll be in back of my land raider, rhinos and other mechanized vehicles moving towards the enemy. So far in the few games I've run this squad has been very effective fire support unit and has replaced my predator quite well.

for a drop podding army I'd say 10 grey hunters with the 2 melta guns or the mentioned combo of WG with combi's
