WG Vrox
I was comparing points costs for wolf guardand in the battle report for the Oct issue of WD and notice a point difference. The standard WG in TDA is listed as 38 in the WD, I get 33 for a WG in TDA with PW/SB. What is strange is I get the same points they have for a WG with anything else such as TH/SS at 63 and Cyclone w/PF at 73, twin claws at 48. Am I missing 5 points somewhere on the standard load out or is that a misprint? Lord Ragnarok
I have the WD as well. I will take a look. I wouldn't be surprised if they are off. In the example army by Cruddance(sp?) he had the THammer swinging 7 attacks due to the mark of wulfen. Lord Ragnarok
Yeah, after reading it, something is off. Somebody must be using incorrect pts for base WG in termie. Hfran Morkai
Considering Mr Kelly also "Put Blood Claws into the troops section" from what appears to be the fast attack section that little misprint doesn't bother me, did he even read our old codex? Yeti
Or they forgot to mention a piece of wargear that cost 5 pts ... In any case, after reading the report, I was very underwhelmed by the list. I can understand wanting to show off some of the cool things that SWs can do, but can you please do it with an inteligent list? Hfran Morkai
Packs of five Blood Claws footslogging amused me greatly. And I was hoping for several reports like Space Marines and Guard got. Corver
Also how the hell did canis and the skyclaws get charged first? You have to be playing pretty badly to let that happen. SamaNagol
Playing an objectives game at 2000pts with only 2 troops choices was the real winner. BrotherLoki
I haven't read it but remember the purpose of the battle report is to show off the new stuff, not necessarily to play a competitive game. Letting the wolves get charged lets them show how counterattack works etc. They're also limited by what the studio has painted up for the codex photography, which is usually one of each unit. Lord Ragnarok
Yeah, BR's are supposed to show off new stuff and shouldn't be indicative of typical game play(as they did allow Alessio to field 4 greater daemons). However, they should get the pts right. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179636-white-dwarf-battle-report/#findComment-2126291 Share on other sites
Warhorse47
I wonder if the game was played and the pics/report done before the codex was completely finalized. Last minute altering perhaps? Lord Ragnarok
Thats a good point. And I do think I remember there being a bunch of changes prior to the golden copy. Warhorse47
Yeah, but still 4 daemons...........yeesh. I'm surprised it went as well as it did for us. Lord Ragnarok
True, but they were both top heavy. 4 troops between them I think Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179636-white-dwarf-battle-report/#findComment-2126362 Share on other sites
