tksolway
Does the Grey Knight Water strategy work in the current edition? I have seen people having success with a more assault oriented army. I've had problems with my army getting objectives. You need transport these days, but if you sink 250 points into a land raider you almost have to make it assault. I have been tempted to try mounting some of my IG in Chimeras and see if they can grab objectives but I am not sure. I'd love to see what other more experianced players think. jeffersonian000
At 1000pts, water armies work extremely well in 5th. Above 1000pts, you need escorts (i.e., Chimera or Rhinos with anti-tank or anti-horde weapon squads inside). IST are becoming a bigger and more valued unit selection in armies abover 1000pts. number6
What jeffersonian said. The 5th edition rules set has seriously changed the way the game plays. The pure GK/land raider army is scissors in a game of rock/paper/scissors. It gets smashed by rocks (e.g., mech IG) but can rip apart paper (e.g., Orks). So it's not a very balanced army. It's no longer capable of seriously challenging all-comers. You can build very effective pure DH armies, but not pure GK armies anymore. avatar8481
Seconded. I've had a lot of success with a derivative of number6's GK/IST list and really enjoyed it...also had a lot of success...pretty much tabling people left and right, though it would suffer against a tooled up 5th ed army I tend to face people who haven't bought all the tanks they really need. The list is pretty simple, but only works at 1750+ 2 5 man GKT squads with BC each squad has 1 thunderhammer and 2 incinerators (the BC has the TH/INC combo) 2 LRC w/melta and smoke 1 Inq HQ with MM servitor, HB servitor 2x mystic 2x sage and a chimera with ML and HF After that you just add as many 2x melta IST in ML/HF chimeras as you can (2 in 1750 [squads of 8]) 4 in 2000 [squads of 5]). I find it works really well, but the key is waiting for your moment with the GKT.
