WG Vrox
For 50 points you sure do seem to get alot of bang for your buck and am considering taking one to run inside my LRR with 1 Thrall which will give me a 50% chance to repair any immobilized or weapon destroyed result. closest thing you can get to him is building a WGBL and you into the 150 points area and loose the repair ability. 2 A with TH +1 with Servo Arm and +1 A from thrall at BS3 . so potential 5 st 8 attacks on charge, not bad for 60 points when you factor in runic armor and the second wound the thrall gives. They take up 2 precious spots inside the LLR, but something I am willing to deal with for all the added benefits they bring to the table. Anyone else considering taking a IP and have any strats you might want to share? End with a question; does the IP have to be outside of the vehical to repair it. The rule states he needs to be in base contact, which being inside counts as contact? WG Vrox. Warhorse47
I believe he can still be inside as that would be in contact. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179728-new-iron-priest/#findComment-2127114 Share on other sites
El Scotcho
I would say yes, being inside necessarily puts you in base contact with the vehicle in question. Also don't forget some cyberwolves for kill offs, and extra attacks. Valerian
They take up 2 precious spots inside the LLR, but something I am willing to deal with for all the added benefits they bring to the table. WG Vrox. Actually they take up all 12 precious spots in the LRR, since you can't put more than one unit in a transport at the same time. Hfran Morkai
I will be using one in apocalypse riding in his own Helios and I've got the perfect model in mind for him, might try to take him in normal games though. Darn will have to rethink him possibly on a SMB, no thralls though. Has anyone heard if FW are able to keep pace with bikes when they join as a retinue? Oldenhaller
They take up 2 precious spots inside the LLR, but something I am willing to deal with for all the added benefits they bring to the table. My original issue with him is that as he's not an independent character he can't join another unit (such as wolf guard and wolf lord) to make their vehicle faster with saga of the iron wolf. I then looked at him again and found how broken this was. Elites Iron priest -Thunder hammer -Servo Arm -Thunderwolf mount -Wolf tooth necklace -4 cyber wolves 165pts so that's a cav unit with everything T5 doing 16 I4 attacks on the charge and then 4 always hit on threes S10 thunder hammer attacks and 1 power fist attack which are hidden because he not in independent character? Win ~O Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179728-new-iron-priest/#findComment-2127346 Share on other sites
BLACK BLΠFLY
That's pretty much how I plan to run mine. Remember also that he comes with runic armor and the hammer is S9 if you mount him on a thunderwolf. Also if you take a character with Saga of the Wolfkin those Cyberwolves are I5. They can shred. 0b :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179728-new-iron-priest/#findComment-2127474 Share on other sites

andrewdrexler
My only issue with the Iron Priest is that it is a pewter figure and would be a major pain to True-Scale for my new Wolf army. WG Vrox
Since the IP is a unit, there is no reason why Canis could not join him with his 2 wolves, that would make for a very harty unit. All that I5 power attacks backed up by the TH attackes. Would such a unit be worth 370 points. 4 cyber wolves, 2 fen wolves, Canis and IP on TWM? Speaking of which, the information regarding Fen Wolves as weargear is very limited. I see where they are considered a beast unit, but that does not tell us if they are considered a retinue or if being labled as a beast means they are no longer able to keep up with a bike's movement. Keercrevlis
Just think a Iron preist with 2 thralls and 3 Cyberwolves in a LR w/MM with a RP. A Raider with repair and a 5+ cover save and if a squad gets to close look at all the PW attacks that can pour out and wipe the sqaud out. EDIT: The 5+ cover save I am talking about is from Stormcaller!...lol Hey Vrox sorry to have spoiled it for ya. In my normal army I run a RP with my BC's in a LR..People hate me for it. WG Vrox
I was just coming back to say I like the idea of running a IP in a LRR with 3 Thralls 4 CW give him WTN and Iron Wolf Sage, but you kinda beat me to it Keercrevls. So somewhat back to my original plan of in a LRR but now with his own unit and takes up 12 slots. Not only will the LRR get to move d3 faster a turn, but receive a 2+ rapair roll for both weapons and immobilised results. Since I ordered Canis I also thinking of running him with this list as well. Makes complete sense and turns his cyberwolves into monsters. and a 5+ cover save Are you sure the IP grants a 5+ cover save, maybe your thinking of the RP. Freman Bloodglaive
Making a techmarine/iron priest on bike is pretty easy. Just grab the Space Marine vehicle sprue, stick the techmarine torso on a biker legs and bike. Give him a thunderhammer from the Iron Hands set (you can buy about five of them with storm shields from GW) and wolf him up a bit and Bob's your uncle. A normal marine servo arm back pack will work for him nicely. I'm planning to do just that to make a Master on the Forge on bike to go with my Space Marine Captain on bike. In the Codex Marines it gives me bikes as troops and fast attack, and dreadnoughts as elites and heavy support. Converting a servo harness might take a little doing, but it should be doable. Oldenhaller
Just wondering how the thunderhammer is only S9? While I understand it's normally doubled plus 1 if the warior in question has something like furious charge in this instance the strength bonus like the toughness bonus is being added to the pofile. If anyone on a thunderwolf is only taking instant death from railguns and the like as it's added to his profile then surely the same rule applies to the strength bonus he gets? ~O Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179728-new-iron-priest/#findComment-2127747 Share on other sites

hilander
I was thinking about my ironpriest on juggernought for some time, it looks like it is going to be useful with the new dex;) I like the idea of him and Canis going wild on one flank... spectre312
As much as I hate the idea of Canis, for his dirt cheap hq price, but the perks he gives a unit like this... SamaNagol
You can take an Iron Priest on his own. Have him join a unit and deploy the unit in the LRR. When it comes to disembarking, have him leave the unit and remain in the LRR. Simples.
