Byrne
Hmmm, as always with a new codex, it is easy to "read" in old rules when you get something new. I was looking at the entry about wolf claws, and it say they are a "type" of lightning claws, but different. What I was seeing, was that there is no mention of "no extra attack unless you take two" rule that LC have. So can we have a wolf claw and a bolt pistol/frost axe to get an extra attack? ..what am I missing? Hfran Morkai
Well they're lightining claws with some extar rules, it's like a chainfist Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131722 Share on other sites
Eternal Warrior
The only way to ge the bonus attack is if it is paired with another wolf claw. At least thats how we play it here. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131736 Share on other sites
AnarchX
As far as I know, they are Lightning Claws (so you have to have 2 to get the extra attack in CC) with the ability to choose whether you re-roll to hit or to wound. Thanks, AnarchX Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131738 Share on other sites
Byrne
I agree, thats how I play it as well. But, with a new stand alone codex, and if it dosen´t say... Hmmm, it seems like there is some gaps in this new codex. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131751 Share on other sites
Leman Of The Russ
It does say-go through the Codex carefully. You get to choose to re-roll hits or wounds [as had already been said] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131756 Share on other sites

Hmmm, it seems like there is some gaps in this new codex. :D It says in the 40k rule book doesn't it? Something like when using a power weapon, you need two to get a bonus attack, or having two CCW (i.e chainsword and bolt postol, not Bolt pistol and wolf claw...) As far as i see it, its nothing to do with the codex.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131768 Share on other sites
Leman Of The Russ
The 'having 2' rule ONLY applies to Wolf Claws and Lightning Claws. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131782 Share on other sites

Hmmm, it seems like there is some gaps in this new codex. :D There is no gap- the rules for lightning claws specificly say you need two, thus a variation of lightning claws would also be 2. In fact, due to the wording of special close combat weapons it could even be interpretted that unless you could pair a lightning claw with a wolf claw, wich you cant by codex restrictions, you cant get +1 A for two weapons. Seriously... dont try to cheese it, itll just bite you in the tail. AdeptusDavidus
The 'having 2' rule ONLY applies to Wolf Claws and Lightning Claws. Grey Mage
And Chainfists besides. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131850 Share on other sites
Leman Of The Russ
WHAT!? NO! People only think that about Thunder Hammer because they are so often paired with Storm Shields which don't count as CCs. And what the hell? Power Fists and Chainfists? I think you need to re-read the rules. Unless it SPECIFICALLY STATES you need a pair, then you don't. Unless it SPECIFICALLY STATES you need a pair, then you don't. Except it does, in the BRB pg42 on the bottom right, under "normal and special close combat weapons" where it specificly lists powerfist, thunderhammer, and lightning claws as requiring a second weapon of the same type to get the bonus. Chainfists are included as they are just a subtype of powerfist, wolf claws are included as they are a subtype of lightning claw, though a particularly anal reading of RAW could declare that the latter two could never have +1 A if paired with an identical weapon. Leman Of The Russ
Uh-huh. Even the White Dwarf team say it's just the claws. Rulebooks can have errors you know. JamesI
Uh-huh. Even the White Dwarf team say it's just the claws. Rulebooks can have errors you know. Grey Mage quoted the rulebook page. There has been no FAQ to change it. It is the rule and has been since 5th edition started. Grey Mage
Uh-huh. Even the White Dwarf team say it's just the claws. Rulebooks can have errors you know. No. Incorrect. GW staffers are NOT superior to the rulebook. White Dwarf teams can make mistakes- or be playing with a pre-production version of the rules. If you came to my house and told me the rulebook as incorrect without a FAQ Id simply remove my models from the table- because theres no point in playing if none of the rules are correct. At a tournament youd just be disqualified on the spot. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180066-derail/#findComment-2131900 Share on other sites
Wolf Guard Hengist
@ Leman The Russ Pup, theres a long Fang quoting you hard facts and yet you still dispute? Leman Of The Russ
Hahaha. Pup? Insolence. I have been playing SW since 2nd edition. Anyway-I take Codex Facts over the rulebook-and once you read the new codex you'll see why. AdeptusDavidus
Well, my codex is in the mail. Does the SW codex have explicit new rules for Thunder Hammers and Powerfists (and Chainfists, too, I guess, though afaik they follow the rules for Powerfists)? Leman Of The Russ
I'm not going to be bothered posting pages-especially as I can't remember the specific page.
