Glaeken Templaris
Great work so far on the dread conversion. On an additional note for those using the allankey scales with GS the great thing about it is the fact that you can get the same results using a small grade key, ideal id your wanting to make a cloak for marine sized models Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180116-a-dragonized-ironclad-dread-from-aobr-dread/page/3/#findComment-2236537 Share on other sites

Targol
Back from the deep to show you almost finished right arm. About arms balance, both are longer than standard dread arms so it's not really unbalanced as you can see on this older picture with an head try (I'm currently resculpting it to make it look like an Asian dragon sculpture) : http://img.over-blog.com/300x300/2/62/28/18/SM-Dread/Dread42.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180116-a-dragonized-ironclad-dread-from-aobr-dread/page/3/#findComment-2883227 Share on other sites

DornsApothecary
The time and effort that has gone into this is amazing and I was absolutely in love with it.... right up until the point where the dragon's head was added. For me, it just doesn't sit right on the model. The dread just starts to lose its mechanical feel and ends up looking somewhat peculiar. Maybe its just me... Spazmonkey
I really do like this, but I think the dragon head takes it to far. It looks like a magical dragon rather than a dread. I would remove the head and give it a more traditional sarcophagus, This just reminds me of the never ending story. Other wise I think this is a fantastic conversion, really inspired and original. Can not wait to see it complete. he_plays_guitar
Although the dragon head is nicely sculpted, it looks too silly in my opinion. While I think you have a great idea, I would like to offer up an alternative to the dragon head. Technically, the marine inside is not actually poking his head out of the sarcophagus to look around through the dragon's eyes. He is wired up into the sarcophagus and looking out through the slit in the sarcophagus cover, or wired into the dreadnought's sensors. I think it would benefit from sculpting a raised cover for the sarcophagus instead of an actual head coming out of the cover. I believe you could get the same effect by doing so, and it would look more like a lovingly sculpted cover for an ancient hero's warmachine, rather than an awkward dragon head poking out of the sarcophagus. Not trying to demean your sculpt, which is still nice by the way, I just would like your dread to look as cool as possible! Targol
Thanks for the advices. I may step back for the head. You're not alone, guys, to point out the"too much" touch of this head. It was very fun to sculpt but I'm thinking of a soberer alternative as a scaled plate. I think I can manage to remove this head without damaging the paint job.
