warsmith
Hey all. Well I've got my copy of the book now and came across the rules for wolf standards. I'm a little unsure on the rules for them. The rules for units armed with them state that once per game, for the duration of a single assault phase ''all models in a that unit may re-roll any dice rolls of a 1.'' Does this mean any rolls? By that I mean rolls to hit, wound and failed armour saves? Or is it just hit rolls. I think i may be intended as rolls to hit, yet RAW mean the former example given. Many thanks Dan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180148-wolf-standards-in-grey-hunter-units/ Share on other sites
Decoy
Any, ANY rolls. Leadership, Armor, Invulnerable, Hit, Wound, MotW's "D3 extra attacks", and if one of your models has taken up juggling during combat as a hobby, he could probably reroll a 1 on a Dexterity Check. Banner's a must-have, mate. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180148-wolf-standards-in-grey-hunter-units/#findComment-2132954 Share on other sites

Brother Grius
I'm sure that's what he meant. Using it with Ragnar sounds terribly mean. Stormbrow II
It's like the whole Dragon Armour thing with the High Elves in Warhammer. It's probably not what was intended but it's in the Codex now and GW have to live with their mistakes. Thankfully we gain. I'll definitely be attaching Njal to a squad with this and dodging Perils of the warp attacks and re-rolling to hit tanks on the other side of the battlefield. The Forgetful
Im seriously thinking of not including this banner just for the epic cheesiness of it. I don't like major advantages. :) - Forgetful Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180148-wolf-standards-in-grey-hunter-units/#findComment-2133091 Share on other sites
Wolf Guard Dan
@Forgetful. I really do no think it is cheesy enough to not include in your army. Have you ever played an eldar seer council. They'll pretty much allow their whole army to reroll whatever they want. Unless of course, there is a Rune Priest within 24".... It will be useful, it is just for one turn during the assault phase. You will not be able to reroll perils of the warp attacks with it unless you cast in the assault phase. And you will only get full use out of it if your unit stays at ten men. Leman Of The Russ
It's still good though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180148-wolf-standards-in-grey-hunter-units/#findComment-2133155 Share on other sites
Iacton Qruze
What is with people thinking that every advantage the army gets can't possibly be RAW? And then when it is, saying "Well, I'm not going to do that because it would be cheesy, and I don't think it's RAI" C'mon people. You're wolves! Use the tricks and cunning the Allfather gave you! When the RAW is that clear, someone else's supposed RAI interpretation holds no water. If GW has a beef with it, they'll get right on an FAQ in about 3 years. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180148-wolf-standards-in-grey-hunter-units/#findComment-2133170 Share on other sites
Leman Of The Russ
Just because you don't use your tricks, doesn't mean that the Eldar won't send a Seer Council against you, or that Necrons can't get back up. Leman Of The Russ
Ahahahaha. Necrons have never given me much of a problem. One memorable batte was when my first Rune Priest [who is now in a dreadnought after being mauled by a Hive Tyrant] killed the Nightbringer with a Rune Weapon. SO funny.
