Vassakov
Ok, I confess. I got two copies of Space Hulk. One awaits a certain, international religious holiday of giftgiving and shall be done to the very best of my abilities. The other... well, they're getting a little makeover. Yes, in the last month my TDA contingent has jumped from 15 to 32 - enough to give the local Deathwing players a mild heart attack. Between a SW battleforce, a SWWGTDA (that's a horrible acronym) and a copy of Spulk I hope to make each one individual and Wolfy - and I'll let you lot sit in! (NB: I am presently waiting on a selection of high end sculpting tools and a "carver" that works like a pen which will allow me to carve runes and suchforth into plastic. As a result, these are early WIPs and to give you an idea of where I'm heading, stuff in green is earmarked for major GS'ing. That's why a few blood drops remain - to give me a base to work on. I haven't missed them, honest!) Here's my Njal/TDA Rune Priest. So far a weapon swap* and a new icon on the Force Axe. Pelts, wolf skulls and a beard to follow. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0405.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0403.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0408.jpg *Yes, I know Njal doesn't technically have a Storm Bolter. But if he did, can you really see yourself using it? :) Now, this fellow, with a generally psychotic demeanour and an aggressive stance and torn armour will eventually be a Lone Wolf. Carrying the skulls of the packmates he failed in life, nothing more than glorious death awaits him. As well as some wolf skulls and a pelt over the chains, he'll get the red maw of the Werecurse in the paintjob. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0409.jpg Finally, a by-the-books Wolf Guard with a spiffing Belt Fed Assault Cannon and a Wolf Claw. Just 'cause that's more evil than even the DW. :D http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0411.jpg C&C Welcome, and it's good to have some new stuff after all these years. The Terminators are absolutely brilliant (eyepatch head excepted!) For Russ and the Wolftime, brothers. Let's show them who the Wolves really are! Night Runner
I like your idea of using the lighting claw SH termie for of the Lone Wolf. With that pose, I honestly can't see him converted into anything else. Great judgement call for a conversion. Would you mind if I use, rip-off, bootleg and copy the idea for myself? :) Edit: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180159-into-the-stars/#findComment-2133092 Share on other sites

Your work has always been an inspiration to me, so borrow away! Firenze, yes but you will pay through the nose. Personally, I'd just mount a SB on a second PF and ignore it for game purposes if in TDA. If not... well, at least it looks cool. DGC, I'll post pictures of it and what it does when I grab one. Imagine a fountain pen, with a solid nib capable of scoring plastic. Not sure what it's called or it's original purpose, but I turn up lots of random craft bobbins at work and this just looked perfect. Toasterisfree - not sure what the problem is. Something to do with settings/connections? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180159-into-the-stars/#findComment-2133516 Share on other sites

Vassakov
Progress is being made, slowly. New sculpting tools came, and these are they - 12 Wax carvers and a mapping pen. The latter is capable of carving into plastic, and I hope to use it to make runes in the armour. Set me back £2.25 - a bargain! http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0418.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0419.jpg This is the results with the sculpting tools (sorry for the appalling pics... light is not good.) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0412.jpg The Rune Priest is bearded (and has already been named by my brother as "Gandalf the Clashing" ;) ) and the Lone Wolf has gained some pelting. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0413.jpg With horrible flash annihilating all details (though showing up the runes on the axe) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0414.jpg And without... Finally, a stein of ale to the man who can tell me where I may be going with this one... (very WIP) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0416.jpg And finally, the next version of a Wolf Lord, Morkai with his twin Wolf Claws, and two more Wolf Guard. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0417.jpg Enjoy. Vassakov
Brothers, lax have been my deeds of late... The Sons of Russ, once foremost in my mind, have slipped back and my sagas have dwindled and faded. No more! This day marks a return to the fury that left many a foe in ruin, and once more the pack of Morkai will sail the stars! Ahem. As the rather pretentious text implies, I've slipped behind a bit recently. Camera issues and real life (work!) have pushed keeping this going well back and its not been great, to be honest. I have managed to do quite a lot of painting, but nowhere near as much as I had hoped. Roughly half of the SH Termies have been converted, but only these ones are actually done. The rest are on the sprues. On top of this, I have a SW Battleforce plus an old Fursio Dreadnought to assemble, convert and paint (so far I have 4 Grey Hunters painted and 4 more undercoated, plus the Dread undercoated.) So, work must be done at a brisker pace, I think. On the other hand, I have got this little lot done: (apologies for some of the photos, the flash washes some right out.) Wolf Lord Eric Morkai, in Tactical Dreadnought Armour with paired Wolf Claws and Saga of the Warrior Born. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0435.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0437.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0438.jpg Now, I a lot of people think that Morkai is on the front cover, but to me he should be older, and more brutal looking. His description to me speaks of a cold, harsh warrior of unbending fury rather than a hot headed psychopath. I think this model captures that ideal. (NB: the more observant will notice the camera has picked up gold on the rim. I can't actually see it, and will look under proper light tomorrow! Morkai's Personal Bodyguard. 4 Wolfguard in Tactical Dreadnought Armour. 1 Pair of Wolf Claws, 1 Assault Cannon and Wolf Claw, 1 Storm Bolter and Chainfist and 1 Thunder Hammer and Stormshield. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0442.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0444.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0445.jpg Tactically, this should cover all the bases. My personal favourite is the Assault Cannon, simply because he is rather understated, yet utterly lethal. Rune Lord Bjoern Darkwülf (yes, this may be a homage in naming terms...) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0449.jpg And finally, probably my favourite model so far...: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0452.jpg Brother Skal, Lone Wolf, Morkai's Red Claw Until next time brothers, C&C welcome! Prosedragon
The base on your wolf lord is awesome, as is the scratch across the eye - painting the eye milky white is a great touch, it makes it pop out a little more. The painting on the force axe is great too, i like the red-orange tones against the blue of the blade. Consider the ideas stolen - you owe my wolf lord a new eye, so if a big hairy guy knocks on your door... How did you do the base on the wolf lord? Everything else looks great too. Vassakov
Right, so there's this thing that this forums doing... something to do with reading or painting or somesuch. And it ends in 10 days, and so far I have what is technically known as "bugger all" to show for anything, really. Whoops. To recap - I said I'd paint the very shiny new FW Ven Dread, and it arrived in January or something. And 9 days before the deadline, I come up with my first WIP. Figures, really. Well, when I say WIP, the sarcophagus, legs and feet are done. The Weapons and base... aren't. Even started. Spray pain time, methinks  Pics: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0488.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0487.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0486.jpg Fortunately, I have done some other stuff. Arjac, for example: (still need to add a few little details, such as script and runes, plus some tidying up on the hammer) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0491.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0490.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0493.jpg Obviously as he is based on the BA SH Termie Sergeant he's a mite different from most - less beard, to begin with! However, I think the icon, large shield and this particular hammer should identify him fairly well. I also gave him the Night Runner icon, to show he is "on loan" to Morkai's company. Now all I need to do is track down our resident Bug player, and his Trygons... Next dude is another SH Termie, replaced the Storm Bolter and GS'd a CML and pelt on him. Still loads of work, I'm concerned by the helmet though. I'd intended to tie him to the Long Fangs with a White/Black Helmet, but he's looking a bit too much like a wine supping book reader than a Son of Russ right now! Thoughts? http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0494.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0495.jpg Last up... speaks for itself. Still need weathering and iconography, as do the pack. (And yes, I know the pack isn't legal - it was whichever models I could grab! :P ) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0496.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0497.jpg Just got two more of the Emperor damned things to do now... :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180159-into-the-stars/#findComment-2327612 Share on other sites
Firenze
Not bad! Vassakov
Wow, thanks guys. Nice to see some of the legends of the Fang approve of my humble efforts! @ Firenze - I direct you to any of my projects, a 3 month one is good these days =P @ Brother Ramses - unfortunately, it hasn't worked as well as I'd hoped. The problem I'm finding is that it doesn't score deeply enough to have any significant impact, especially once paint goes on. I think it would work better with a knife to add a bit more depth to it, but the last time I tried that I slipped and it did bad things to my finger... @ GM - Sorry, you've lost me? The Cyclone dude is a SH Termie with a spare Cyclone launcher on him, and on ebay you can buy him for about $12 - probably less, it's Brother Omnio if your interested. Thanks very much for the praise though - coming from you, it's pretty awesome! @ Warhorse47 - Thanks a lot, the FW Dread is absolutely stunning as is - frankly, I'm not convinced I am doing it justice but I'm glad you like it! @ Mr Bloodhowl - Yes, that photo makes him look like some kind of mad Gandalf. <.< Shhh... he looks better painted, and less like a colour blind psychopath! Vassakov
So, less than 9 hours to go, and I'm submitting my second WIP for my Dreadnought. These were taken a couple of days ago, but due to work I've only just got round to uploading them ;) The sarcophagus and base are finished, the arms need a little work. The banner will be done at some other point, as I have a friend who might do some freehand on it. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0500.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0501.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0502.jpg Finally, a second Pod WIP and a box of stuff-what-needs-doing. ;) What can people spot, I wonder? http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0505.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/SP_A0503.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180159-into-the-stars/#findComment-2341136 Share on other sites
