I'm thinking of starting Wolves...

...and, worst of all, I like helmets.

Will this get me thrown out of the pack? Labeled a "bandwagoner?"

Should I take the plunge?

nothing wrong with Wolves wearing their helmuts, just think of the sound og the howl amplified!

but asking for permission isnt very Wolf like...if you decide to stay (and only you can make that choice) better be more decisive.

Permission?

I just wanted to know who I was going to have to fight in order to keep my helmets...

Awesome!

and nobody. we're all brothers (and maybe sisters...) here, as long as you honor the All-Father, kill the xeno and drink the offered ale you'll be fine!

Even though we wolves have 2 sets of genetically enhanced lungs, we still can not breath the vacuum of space. There are times when the entire fighting force must wear their helmets.

Now do something else practical and grab another pitcher for the table.

Indeed, I feel somewhat bad using some of the unhelmeted wolf guard even though I actually CAN paint faces fairly well. That said, those models are bloody gorgeous and I would hate to put them away just for aesthetics...at least until someone spots me a couple of boxes of the new wolves. :)
I think the helmetless look is pretty cool, especially if you were to put some suitable scars or cuts on the characters. The one thing I don't like is some of the hairstyles. I think more heads with long flowing hair or braids would be cooler than those with the mohawks, etc.
I like helmets too! I am not very good at painting flesh but I am going to do most of my new guys helmetless. I'll take it as a challenge to learn how to paint flesh. But I will have the helmeted guys too. I like painting the glowing eyes of a helmeted space marine.
I do understand your plight man infact I think ever single one of my wolves has a helmet on except for maybe three or four but yeah I was told a simple way that does kinda work for me which was just bleached bone with a chestnut ink wash it does end up well just depends on how much you layer the chestnut ink wash. Hope this helps ya fellow wolfie!
I like to think of the helmet being as a muzzel of sorts, to be taken off when its time to rip out the throats of the enemies, and when cracking open a keg. Nothing wrong with a helmet, because how else can they breathe when assaulting a space hulk, or getting up close with Nurgle
