So I went over to my FLGS earlier to see if he was getting my Space Wolves stuff early, since its a non-GDub store, and it turns out that there are so many things being ordered world wide that I may not get my stuff on release day. That sucks, but I think I have enough ale to drown my anger in.

Also, you guys may not be seeing as many posts from me in the near future, as I am going to be dieting/working out to lose enough weight to join the US military, starting officially on October 17th. Haven't decided on branch, but it'll prolly be either the Army or the Marine Corps, whichever one will allow me to be a combat engineer and give me more money for the "hardships" I'll have to endure learning to blow stuff up for a living (since I already know how to build stuff). I will, however, try to put up as many pics of stuff I'm building, WIP's for other people to follow (or learn what not to do), and other bs that pops into my brain until then, and once I start I will be keeping track of my personal progress in my Blog.

Um Combat engineer is not hardship it's Danger pay. Your basicly a mine sweeper and bunker buster. You will also build bridges and ditches.

As to the 2 groups. My Pop is a Marine and My Grand Dad was Army. Amry is ok but Marines is a brotherhood for life. Once a marine always a marine. Marines don't die, they just go to hell to regroup. =)

I'm ex British Army, and if i were you i'd pick US Army over Marines. It may have changed now but having served alongside both my understanding is this:

Depending on how you do in Boot, the US Marine Corps can pick your specialty - you may join wanting to be an engineer, but end up as a Rifleman, Cook or Corpsman (medic). Its a brotherhood for sure, but you may end up doing a crappy trade.

US Army if you join wanting to be a Combat Engineer, thats what you'll be providing you're smart enough <_<

Marines sometimes seem to be struggling for kit too and 'make do', whereas the US Army take most of America with them wherever they go :P

Muchos respect to both of them though

Congratulations on deciding to join. I can say honestly though, if you just want to blow things up, go EOD. Our engineers just drive around really slow and try to find/get hit by IEDs. Route clearance is thier only job. And when they do find something, eod blows it up.

PS. Cyrox, for some reason, only certain units get good kit. My IV fluids wer'e all 5 months expired before I could get more. And the only antibiotics/trauma supplies I've had this whole tour were the ones I brought with me. They absolutely refuse to resupply me after I use things. Which is why I'm out of almost everything...

On a Power armor note, I've met MORE 40k players in the combat arms MOS than anywhere I've ever worked before.

I myself am getting ready to head to the Sandbox shortly.

And yeah it seems tons of military folks play. I've met on here and IRL more 40k players through the military than through any other means.

As for the branches, both have pros/cons. There are more opportunities job wise in the Army, but the Marines get by and large slightly better training. If you want to do Combat Engineers though and get that Hazardous Duty Pay, go for the Army.

If I were in the States, I would go Army, yet I can see the appeal of the Marines. I am currently in the last stages of joining the Aus Army as a Rifleman. Personally, any person who considers a period of time in any Defence Force should be encouraged and commended. Best of luck in your recruitment stages.

Thanks for the support guys ;), but I gotta lose the weight first.

Back on topic though. Not sure how bad this is gonna effect everyone getting their nice new shiny 'dexes (or 'dexi I guess if I wanted to say

it properly), but the FLGS owner said that he's unsure if he would get all of the plastic he ordered. I wonder if the new mini plant that GDub is building stateside is up and running yet. If not, I hope it'll be soon, because I know quite a few people who want to play Blood Angels when they hit the shelves next year. I'm not trying to start a panic or anything I just wanted to let people know what I heard, hell this could only involve the Southeastern US distribution network (because their sure aren't many store down here in Dixie, not anything like out west or near Chicago).

Thanks for joining. We should all appreciate those who fight for us.

That said, I see you're in Tampa. There's a game store here in Jacksonville called Sun Coast Comics. They are in pretty good with GW, so you could check out their web page and maybe shoot them an email. If you're going to be anywhere near here I'm sure they could get you some wolfy stuff.

Also, don't miss out on the Metallica / Lamb of God concert in Tampa this weekend if you like that stuff.

As a currently serving Soldier, and a somewhat local one, I'd reccomend the Army. The pay is the same, and Our budget is higher. We're also the only ones that'll garuntee you an MOS.

On topic... I just called a local store in Orlando, and I'm glad I've got a handy last name (Russ for those of you who might be curious) or else I wouldn't be getting a codex tomorrow.

Wow so this seems to be affecting more than just my store. Well it sucks, but at least I won't be the only one.

@ Brother Grius, I would be going to the concert, but I have to work all weekend at 2 jobs, so while monetarily I'll be happy, no really good concert for me. Too bad its not at the Ford Ampitheater, because I'd be able to listen to it while driving around all night.

@Keld I didn't know the Army had anything near Orlando. And since I'm the only guy really bugging him about my order, the store owner is gonna make sure I get all my stuff.

Both branches, if you sign up with a contract for a specific specialty, you get that. And Marines don't have Corpsman. We borrow from the Navy. Same with all our medical and religious personnel.

Marines do have some budget limitations compared to the Army. They get far less money each year than the Army does. But that 'lack' is part of the esprit de corps that makes the Marines a brotherhood and not just another job.

I speak as a Marine myself (no longer active duty).

well let me fist say as a regular american who plays 40k its what yall are doing that give us this awesome right to play this game. so big UP's to all of you lol.

anyway our indy store up her in hermitage TN had about 20 codex, and 6 boxes of the basic squad and the terminators. as well as 5 njal, 5 lucas, and 3 cainus. and all but 2 codex were gone in the span of a few hours yesterday..."our gaming day" lol. i managed to grab a codex, a box of regular wolves, a box of termies, and a njal.

i dont think they really expected this kind of want for the new wolves. i know in out club there are at least 8 of us who have or had wolves in the past who are breaking them back out or building from scratch again. hopefully they will crank up production abit lol
