Hrathnar Flintfang
Part of me knows the answer to this already. The way RP are set up right now they are 'best' if you take powers that let you loose fire from long ranges while they sit protected away from everything. They were apparently not 'intnded' to get up close and personal. Fortunately for me I have never enjoyed what is 'intended', and my key strategy depends on my RP being close enough to throw stormcaller onto an LRC. Because of this in the last edition I kitted him out to be an HQ hunter. Now because of the added powers it seems I can do this even more effectivly since any low Int army is going to get a hole eaten in it by JotWW and then skewered by roving bikers with bad attitudes. Yet the one thing that could have made my RP more survivable in one on one with enemy leaders is apparently denied him for whatever reason. So, why is it exactly that Saga of the Bear is not open to our RPs? It doesn't seem like it would be too much of a game breaker since they 'intended' the RP to be at range anyways. I know it is a very small nitpick and with a 'retinue' of WG led Swift claws around I honestly kind of doubt that I will lose him before dealing out some real damage, but honestly it does kind of bug me that they only gave him two saga options and neither one really helped my build or seemed to fit a Rune Priest for that matter. and yes, I did get to see the new dex, so ya. Brother Grius
Edit: Why pay the points for that saga on a 2 wounder? Sorry about the previous spelling. I drunk-posted. ¬_¬ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180230-rp-with-saga-of-the-bear/#findComment-2134026 Share on other sites
Hrathnar Flintfang
admittedly its not the same as sticking it on a wolf lord, but by that same token why give warrior born to him either? I mean yes that could apparently be a bit more useful, but it seems like they are saying 'keep this man away from close combat at all costs' the way people are talking. In my mind even something like saga of majesty would make more sense. Like I said it is a small gripe, but I think just listing two sagas for any HQ was kind of... pointless, especially since most of them don't seem to fit the MO people are ascribing to the RP. Corver
Payed vs Eldar last night and my RP tried JotWW of a wraithlord And he rolled a 3 (just what he needed to live) next turn he charged my RP squad and was going to eat his way through the squad and RP. fortunatley the game ended. but my point is Saga of the bear doesnt help against wraithlords and you have no powers or weapons that boost str so you can. I'd have liked something like +1 str against T5+ at least giving me a chance against the mighty wraith lord.
