Grimtooth
I am looking through my new codex and have a question regarding adding a wolf guard to my grey hunter squad. In the grey hunter entry when I want to get the additional special weapon it says, "If the squad numbers 10 models, ...." Emphasis mine. Now does this mean that if I pay for 9 grey hunters and then add a wolf guard to the squad, I can get the additional special weapon for free since the squad now numbers 10 models? Nothing specifically says it has to be 10 grey hunter models, just that the squad numbers 10 models. 9 grey hunters plus one wolf guard does equal a 10man squad so therefore you fulfill the requirement for 10 models and get the free special weapon. Brother-Captain Sicarius
no you can not get the free weapon that way... the wolf guard is not added to the unit when you write the list, that happens later on :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180295-grey-hunters-and-wolfguard/#findComment-2134975 Share on other sites
Yeti
This is still somewhat contested ... hopefully it will be FAQed. Until then, my interpretation is that you have to have 10 Grey Hunters to get the second free special. I base this on two things 1) You determine the # in the pack at the time you're buying the squad and independently of what other squads have or have not been purchased. 2) There's nothing binding a WG to the squad. You could (theoretically) buy a WG with the intention of adding it to the squad, getting the second special. But at the last minute, there's nothing stopping you from having the WG change packs. Attaching WG, AFAIK happens in the "pre-game" when you attribute where ICs go, who stays in reserves and wether or not a squad goes in a non-dedicated transport. Since at this stage, your list is "set in stone", it would mean that the second plasma is in your pack ... but the WG could go somewhere else. Grimtooth
Ok. Just going to run some grey hunter packs with 2 special weapons and no wolfguard leading them so I can fit them in rhinos.
