Anyway, we´ve painted four Ultramarine characters, well, three and a Dread, and they are up for sale on ebay, all benefits will go to the Red Cross. Killian Doyle Posted October 4, 2009 Author Share Posted October 4, 2009 Thank you both, a great deal of effort was put into these ones, and it´s nice to see people appreciate it. By the way, these models were painted by members of the Spanish wargaming forum "Tercios de Hierro" I painted the dreadnought, Mariangello did the Chaplain, The librarian was painted by Biosfofo and last but not least, Sicarius by Aerlis. stinkenheim Posted October 4, 2009 Share Posted October 4, 2009 the dread and the chaplain are my two favourites. however the chaplains base leaves me a bit cold, especially the brown patch that has been added to it, i feel it lacks a cohesive feel and instead looks like the guy went, 'oh i'll put this, this and this on it that'll be cool'. Also on the chaplain the handle for the crozius looks unfinished to me, maybe a couple of additional highlights on it. other than that those two are very good models, the black on the chaplin fr instance is done very well and the blending on the dread look great. nice bit of freehand on the dreads leg by the way, kudos on that. the librarians armour looks a bit flat to me, as does the cloth, maybe some extra shading to add more contrast would be good. other than that i feel that mini is pretty well painted, maybe not as good as the others but stll nice. that leaves sicarius, wich without sunding harsh, looks unfinished to me. the armours not badly painted, although some of the highlights could have done with being blended better. the real issues for me are the cloak which i feel needs a fair amount of work, defintely some more highlights to bring it to life. Also the face feels pretty flat, its not that its badly painted, the colours are pretty good its just it needs a bit more depth and definately some eyes added. theres also areas on the small detail bits like the inside of 'U' badge by his sword that look like they have been basecoatd but not finished, maybe painting it white inside would help. Then there are a few gems which haven't been picked out at all. don't get me wrong its a solid start to that model, but in my mind its only half painted. to me it looks like the basecoats have been applied its just waiting for the highlighting and detailing to be done. on the whole though a very nice selection of models and i really do hope that they are successful and you raise some money for a very good cause.
