Hfran Morkai
The big deal is being able to put half your army within 12 inches of an enemy first turn, but you do lose out on mobility later in the game and I'm not a fan either but you effectivel get the drop pod free so you could always sell it to a friend or trade it for a rhino with others? Grey Mage
Anyone giving away DPs should give them to me- I lovem. 1) You can DS your unit anywhere on the field. Without danger of Misshap 99% of the time- thats huge. 2) Its optional- you can always deploy your units on the field and then DS their pods in later- so who cares if your opponent deployed off the table? You dont have to sit next to his deployment zone with your pants down. 3) You can gaurantee the number of forces you have 1rst turn! You get half the pods rounding up, and if you feel you need even more forces you can choose to deploy other forces on the ground and have their DPs show up in later turns empty. 4) You can use DPs to prevent enemy movement even if you have deployed on the table. DS several pods in a line to block their movement- vehicles just wont get through, and with luck infantry will have a hell of a time. 5) Stationairy Stormbolters fire more often than mobile ones. 6) Its fluffy to call in orbital support- another pack of your brothers! I agree Drop Pods are awesome! I didn't know about deploying the Drop Pod empty though.. lol Thats damn tricky! But I have thought of DP Walls. And they provide cover for your troops! Grey Mage
Oi, the thing about Empty Drop Pods is that its actually fairly fluffy- if you read about DP assaults they fire off a number of empty ones to make sure that any accurate AA fire doesnt take out SMs automatically. Wich only makes sense. So yes, I welcome DPs in my Battleforce, and two Hunter packs? Heck yes! Buy a tactical squad and a devastator squad on top of that and you have a fully functioning army with plenty of options. WolfLordLars
Cool, wondered why the battleforce wasnt available yet. Going to pick up that and a box of SW Terminators on the next check, which is next weekend. Considering I have until Jan before I leave, I might even be able to get them assembled and on the field before I go.
