KolliIronbear
Alright. I've been gone for a little while. But lately I've restarted work on a project I've been killing time with... A pyre dreadnought. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/Nokarot/Kolli%20Stuff/DreadFront.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/Nokarot/Kolli%20Stuff/DreadLeft.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/Nokarot/Kolli%20Stuff/DreadRight.jpg Now please realize that this model is extremely work in progress. But i have a question to ask. the black on each side of the sarcoghagus (sp?) needs to be painted. Or does it. Do you think i should turn it Orange, or leave it black? The brown scrap o stuff on him is going to be painted as patchwork skins, and the crux terminatus he's got on his left side isn't done at all either. I need an opinion on that as well. In any event. Comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated! And looking now. I see a very happy "demon" face on the dread's left shin guard. I think I'm going to toss on a bone coloured eight-pointed star. I tried the demon faces. And that one just didn't work. Kolli ++Edit++ Alright. I feel as though I need to clarify things. One of those things is that my chaos marines are almost always not at all chaos-y. In the fluff of this particular warband they follow the tenants of the alpha legion. Nothing is more chaotic than perverting your enemies symbols, make them doubt the reasons they are fighting. My entire warband is based off the game "Vampire: Bloodlines" malcavians (yes, from the videogame). They have a certain insight on people, and they like to wage psychological war on the imperium. Their entire goal is to kill the emperor in order to force his ascension to godhood. That, and I don't find mindless killers that chaotic. Alpha legion and Word Bearers I feel all the scariest of the legions. Those who can use subterfuge to destroy or convert an entire enemy before slipping away. In the Alpha Legion it's even documented that they've worn completely "Imperial" Ultra-marine armor before opening up on the Ultramarine line. Which is substantially more devastating than merely attacking. Who are your allies. Sorry. That was a rant. To boil it all down. My entire army focuses on subtle chaos emblems etc. I want the army to at first glance, almost look loyalist. That, and i love to do kit bashes - this dreadnaught was originally slated for service as a black templar.... p.s. For those keeping track of my projects... My bright and shiny object syndrome has halted work on my renegade Calgar. I'll start work on him again... When i get this sarcough painted! KEEPER
Seeing how it's supposed to be a Chaos Dread, are you going to some how deface the Crux? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180386-wip-chaos-dread/#findComment-2136073 Share on other sites
Drudge Dreadnought
I like it, but i feel like the head should be set a bit deeper back? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180386-wip-chaos-dread/#findComment-2136083 Share on other sites
Commander Sha'son
agree that the head should be recessed a little. However love the free hand. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180386-wip-chaos-dread/#findComment-2136089 Share on other sites
Zeller
Keep the sides black. I feel a fully orange dreadnought would be an over powering sight at this stage. This may change as the arms are added. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180386-wip-chaos-dread/#findComment-2136213 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
=-D I think he will make a good Halloween Dreadnought =-D The sarcophagus should stay black, overpowering like Zeller said, and he'll really be orange. I like the orange tone though, good stuff. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180386-wip-chaos-dread/#findComment-2136304 Share on other sites
KolliIronbear
Alright. a quick update. I think i am going to keep the trim black.. and the crux will be... Modified. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/Nokarot/Kolli%20Stuff/DreadAssembledsaw.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/Nokarot/Kolli%20Stuff/DreadAssembledCannon.jpg Anyway. I know it's not much progress, but it's some. Till next time. IcarusSoulz
Im not sure Id change the crux much, alittle defiling, but in a a nut shell keeping it whole. Perversion would be a good way to de mroalize things, and the Pyre have a choas loyist confusion anyways, dont they? HVNSNTSOLDIER
Lemme guess, the Pyre legion? Very nice dread, love the freehand and colour choices. Though it seems to lack the chaotic-ness associated with most engines of war of this type... perhaps more spikes? Grissly trophies? Chaotic runes and icons? Fluff based stuff? Very good start, can't wait to see more! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180386-wip-chaos-dread/#findComment-2137593 Share on other sites

Very good start, can't wait to see more! Well, at the end of the day Chaos is more then skulls and spikes. I think the dread is Chaosy enough with the iconography. I have mixed feelings on the head. It looks interesting mounted the way it is, though if it was mounted further back, or housed, terminator style, it would make the model look more solid. Sans that, I think the model is perfect. UltraRich
Thats looking really good. I like what you have done with the ammo feed on the body mounted bolter. (I might have to borrow that idea for my dread) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180386-wip-chaos-dread/#findComment-2138791 Share on other sites
