LGS Betrayal.

Grey Mage

Recommended Posts

So, at my friday night game one of the players reported that The Muse, my LGS, had ordered SIX of the new C:SW in for public consumption. I assumed that hed been there on thursday when they receive their order and had asked... simply replying "Thats cool".

Nope.

The *explitive deleted* store started selling them Thursday at noon, and ran out by friday afternoon- when they sold my preorder.

I am so pissed off, and I have no idea how to bring them to account for this. But this is complete crap.

Personally I have no qualms with stores selling stuff a little early...

But the WHOLE POINTS of making a reservation is to have something, um... reserved. Total garbage. Complain about them, never buy anything from them again, and burn down the building. There is nothing in this world that a business could do that upsets me more than when businesses take my reservation, then don't reserve anything. - Especially when you pre-pay in any form.

Horrible business... Just horrible.

And slighting a SW on release day is like taking Christmas away from a small child. - It should never be done.

*Edit: Spelling*

Stuff.

Gray, if you want, I can get it and you could paypal, but you would probably pay less direct ordering now. Sorry you got screwed over my friend.

Sorry... I was just flabbergasted by the offer.

Ill probly end up at the Warstore or something... Ive just been trying to encourage people to buy local so we can keep having tournaments and support and such.

Edit: Im flustered, and I think Im going to go have some dinner now. Thanks for the support/advice guys.

I dont play there. And let others know not to play there. Let them know why you are suggesting others dont play there.

That BS got a local business killed here... of course, the owner had driven several of the nails himself, but his treatment of his employees (gamers) sealed the deal.

But if you still play there and contribute nothing financially to the store, you're actually hastening said store's destruction as you'll be consuming resources while not providing any returns. With folks in the store, stuff has to be on: lights, air conditioning/heating, the register, etc. This in conjunction with their monthly site fees should cause the business to run down in a matter of months, maybe a year.

Trust me, we've done it.

I say try to get at least a pack box out of it AND a copy of the dex because you pre-ordered someting and it's not GW's fault, they dispatched the stock, it was your store deciding on some quick sales methinks and that is wrong so in my mind they owe you stock as compensation

I think your missing a grasp of economics. If they are already open, you playing there doesnt do anything... except encourage others to play there, who might purchase things.

I mean, if your presence DOES cost them money, and it usually doesnt, go for it. But, playing there and buying nothing still helps them. Nothing hurts a store more than no one buying OR playing games there.

We have two stores in my area. Neither one is really a "gaming" store as both have other merchandise that the respective owners seem more interested in. (This is why I'm opening my own store with my brother in the spring)

Anyway, to get to the point, neither of these stores receives any merchandise early. They no longer get the preview copies of the army books, codices, or minis. My understanding is that this is because they have sold these items early and been reported for it.

Might be worth reporting if they don't make this up to you somehow.

One of the owners of a store I used to head to got in the habit of doing this. He did it to a few employees who decided to host a "Free army Day". He lost a bunch of stock with the cashiers throwing 100% discounts. It didn't take long before the place closed down, we all started heading to a different shop down the road after the "sale".

You pre-ordered the Codex and they sold it to somebody else? That sucks and they should deffinitely compensate you for it. You forked over the cash and they didn't deliver the product. Additionally you should deffinitely report the early sales to GW, that sort of thing is just rediculous and troublesome all around.

They are lucky they didnt get in legal trouble for that. 90%, on the other hand, is perfectly legal.. :)

Actually I didnt pay for it yet. They do orders and then you pay when it comes in. This is because its taken upwards of 11 weeks to get a blister in sometimes, and they are tired of me and people like me saying "whats the holdup?".

The reason Im upset is because I asked about this at the end of august, and was told to wait until the 19nth and put in my preorder with them- theyd have it waiting for me. When I got there the normal pile of warhammer and reaper stuff was there, but nothing had my name on it, and I asked why and one of the customers said "sorry, we didnt think you were coming" and when I looked at the associate he said "well, we kind of got a rush on them and you werent here".

We talked for a couple minutes while I tried to desperately hope this was a joke. I pointed out that the book wasnt supposed to be available unitl today and was informed "well we got it on thursday, its just a book". Apparently they sold 9 copies of the book, one of them earmarked for me, before the end of friday as I was told they that I wasnt the only person who was going to have to wait because I wasnt there "on time". The guy at the counter glared at the other customer and informed me that theyd be happy to sell me one in a week or two when the next shipment came in. Would I like to order one?

Ive never had this happen to be there before- I might have to wait forever to get something, but once it was in it was mine to pick up. Because of that Ive always done so quickly, within three days so theyd keep up their ability to order things in for me. It took alot to get them to start doing that again.

And of course Ive been getting crap from my friends for months now for telling them the store wasnt so bad, that just because one *bleep* worked their and had taken over the local 40k seen for a year and drove away half the players... well he was gone, surely we should go back and support it right?

I dont think Im going to hear the end of that one.
