Painting Pelts

i should be posting a tut fairly soon- should be within about 4 days... 2 to sculpt thepelt for my lord and then a day to paint and write at best... it should end up looking like this

From the bottom to the top I use, Scoced brown, scorched brown+bestial brown, esert yellow, bleached bone, bleacjed bone + white, plus additional scorhed brown+water washes when needed. I guess I could post some pics from it when some of my new wolves are done.. trying to make them look 'eavy metal-styel.. and damn, it's almost working O_O;

It depends on what colour the pelt will be:

 

1. Paint the base coat colour.

2. Progressively dry brush with lighter and lighter colors (with decreasing area coverage as you switch to lighter colors)

 

I like to think of the way the drybrush colours are layered is like a topography map. Lighter colours are on top of darker colours, and the higher the elvation the lighter and vice versa.

 

EDIT: If you like the effect you can wash it with an ink afterwards.
