Okay I've yet to see or put an order in on the new codex and models.

So my friend may sell me of his SM, there is 4 bikes, a chaplain, a dreadnought and a devastator squad.

So my question is do you think it is worth buying these and using the bits from the new Space Wolf Packs to convert them more to the wolf or are they not even worth using. By the way I can buy certain parts of them not all of them together. What do you think, If this can't be posted just delete it please.

THANKS IN ADVANCE :D

I'm certainly using a devastator set and some bikes (including an attack bike), to combine with the Space Wolf Pack to create a Long Fangs and Swiftclaw Biker pack respectively. I suspect that's what we're 'supposed' to do with the SW Pack set: combine parts with the vanilla marines to make most of our infantry/jump infantry/biker units.

Yep, Thorgrimm's got it down to a tee. The Chaplain is a little more difficult, some conversion work may be needed there. The Dread is fine, just add a pelp and a couple of SW icons and you are good to go!

The more variety, the better. Just always try to keep the overall flavour of the army 'wolfy'. Don't forget that the philosophy behind the SW pack sprues is interchangeability, and their purpose is for them to be used on thier own or in conjuction with all the over SM box sets out their. If your adventurous, you can try converting an all vanilla SM box set into SW by modelling pelts, furs tooth necklaces and other SW ornamentation on the armour yourself.

So to answer your question, yes buy them if the price is right and convert them with SW parts or with greenstuff. With respect to bikes, I've just finished building mine. I just have to paint them. I added furs and trophies to make them look more wolfy as well as SW parts. I'll be posting them in my blog tomorrow.

I might buy a Black reach (partley because i'm getting some wood elves form someone who has orks, and he will trade them) and to convert it all to space wolves, it will be harder as its all more together, it involves chopping rather than just replacing bits.

Oh the most annoying thing is, i planned on having a squad of Terminators with Combi-Plasmas and Frost Axes, i start work on them, and realise all the bolters and Frost axes are for the same arm :( so i going to have to cut the hands on the Frost axes and use the spare storm shield arms and use Green stuff to make a hand for it, something i have never done :( and i'm not sure how well it will work.

It would be easier to cut the frost axes from both sides and glue them on to the other arm. Just drill holes with a pin vice and use a metal rod for support. It is quicker than sculpting the hand.

Then the hand is the wrong way round though.......

Sorry, but I don't understand what you mean. If you cut the 'top part of the axe and shaft' and the 'bottom shaft of the axe' from the right hand, and attach them to the left I don't see how the hand can be the wrong way. You're not cutting off the hand, just the weapon.

oh yeah i misread that, but there is no Terminator left arm with a hand other than powerfist or WC, so it still wouldn't really work, unless i am missing something else :S

(just to be clear, the Storm Shield arm has no hand, its on the back of the storm shield)

Also what would be the best way to do a Rune Priest in Terminator armour?

I thought i would need a Staff, but i don't, so not sure how to do it...... (there just like Lord's really arn't they, in the fact they look not that diffrent than the normal models, apart from the markings....)

You have a point there. I was just on bitsandkits.co.uk. I cannot tell for certain (maybe you can confirm), but from the picture it seems that the hand on the Frost axe is about (if not the same) as that of a normal marine. Maybe you can use SM hand. If not, the hands of the 2nd edition Space Marine models are larger and they are quite cheap from ebay. I hope it helps. Cheers.

Edit: Staffs are not that hard, especially with the plastic wolf skulls. It depends on the look you want. For a Rune priest in termie armour, it boils down to how patient you are. The best way is to add runes on the TDA. In theory its very easy, just sculpt them with greenstuff or any epoxy putty. The secret is to cut grooves into the armour so the putty can attach itself and take grip. With your modelling knife cut thin grooves of forms of the runes into the armour. Then place thin rolls of putty onto the grooves and square them up. That's all. I have done something similiar with my BCs on their sholder pads. I call it the 'Rune of Acceptance'. They are larger than the runes on RP TDA, but that was the way I wanted them. For RP they shold be smaller.
