Feanwulf
HallO! Now it reads if the squad numbers 10 models you can pick a 2nd special weapon for free. (flamer, melta or plasma) Now does the wolfguard count as being part of the squad the way it works because he joins it as an upgrade character and not an independent character? Dark Bjoern
No, you don´t get the second special weapon cause you need 10 Grey Hunters. The Wolf Guard doesn´t count. Haakon_Stormbrow
no because he does not join until the game actually starts. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180455-9grey-hunterwolfguard-2nd-specialweapon/#findComment-2136537 Share on other sites
Feanwulf
is a packleader an upgraded char or independant? count he as a greyhunter in killpoint missions? stinkenheim
he functions in a similar way to both, he cannot leave a unit he has joined, but he is not an upgrade to a member of that unit. he counts as a member of the squad he is attatched to for kill points. Feanwulf
You mean he is not an upgarade for this units? I think he is Pack Leaders: The Wolf Guard act not only as bodyguards for the lords of Fenris but also as leaders to those with less battlefield expierence. Before the battle, each Wolf Guard has the option of being split off from his pack and assigned to lead a different pack from the follow list: Blodd Claws Swiftclaw Bike Pack Grey Hunters Wolf Scouts Long Fangs Only one Wolf Guard may join each pack in this manner. Wolf Guard in Terminator armour, with jump packs or mounted on a Space Marine Bike may not join Wolf scout units. stinkenheim
i said he wasnt an upgrade to a member of a unit :D Wolf guard are squads of sergeant and bodyguards all in one big unit. When the game starts you decide if any of them are gonna leave the parent unit to lead other squads, in that respect they are treated much like IC except once they are assigned to a unit they are treated as another member and cannot leave it. basically you dont purchase them for a squad and are under no obligation to attatch them to lead a unit, they are not in that way a unit upgrade. muzzyman1981
Jeez how many times are we going to have to answer this question? He is NOT an upgrade character because it would specify wether or not he is (just read the profile for Lukas or Arjac to understand why). He will not be the model needed to bring the GHs up to 10, a 10th GH must be there NOT a WG as the WG joins the unit after army creation, during deployment. Marek Grimfang
Until GW gives an updated FAQ on this and some other stuff, these questions will keep popping up. utilityzero
i'd love for a GW faq to state otherwise but i know it will not be so. it makes you choose, either it's 11 models and walks, or it's only a shooting squad, or it's only an assault squad. the only way i would take a 10 man GH squad for the second weapon is for the double plasma as a pure gun line, or with a WG as a flamer/plasma utility squad on foot. 8 bolter wielding GH with two meltas? not so great of an investment to me. the jeske
8 bolter wielding GH with two meltas? not so great of an investment to me. with motw , fist and totem in a rhino are just as good as a 10 man csm squad with 2 meltas. utilityzero
my point is, what are they doing? if you're taking two meltas i'm guessing they are going after tanks? but what are the rest of the guys doing? shooting bolt pistols at tanks so they can assault with krak grenaes? stinkenheim
i take the free flamer and then meltagun for my GH, along with a powerfist and WG with frost blade/bp. it means they can deal with hordes, heavily armoured infantry and vehicles. all though not optmised in one specific role, they are a true jack of all trades unit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180455-9grey-hunterwolfguard-2nd-specialweapon/#findComment-2137051 Share on other sites
