melabi
I'm new to the wolves and marines. I've been trying to come up with a roster, and have been eyeing on what others do. Than I realized that most rosters dont mix HS.. like Longfangs with Predators. I thought it would be nice (and neat) to field Long fangs, a predator(las cannon), and a vindicator, but not many rosters seem to do that. So, the question is, is there any effeciency issue regarding such? I mean, I understand that the vindicator has different shooting range, but is there any other reason than range problem? Any comment would be greatly appreciated. + Space wolf grey skin was only temporary? I kinda liked it.. Sleipnir Frostfang
A lot of players are probably playing competitively, and redundancy apparently is the way to go *shrugs* You can chance the skin back at the bottom of the page, there is a drop down box. Night Runner
You seem to like playing more defensively, which is okay, but maybe not always suitable for SW (according to the scenario your playing) or for competitive play. I think a more wiser approach would be to see what type of troop choices you want first, since you will need them to hold objectives in order to win; then see how and with what you can support them with the points you have left. Yeti
There's nothing wrong with mixing Long Fangs with tanks. I think that the reason most players don't do it is the cost. Both units can get pretty expensive, especially when kitted for tank hunting. One option would be to have different roles for each. Get a lascannon pred for tank hunting and some dakka long fangs for taking out troops. You could even mix in some missile launchers with the fangs and, with split fire, go after light vehicles, leaving the bolters for troops and the lasccanons on the pred to take out heavy armor. Or switch it around, dakka pred and long fangs with lascannons/missiles. the jeske
Because if you take 3 vindicators or two Land raiders[and this means your list is build to use those or build around them] and one gets destroyed your army still works . If take one unit of each one one gets destroyed your army is suddenlly without either long range or short range fire support and no unit in your list can fill that hole. just like you dont make a list with one 5 man GH +unit 15 man BC and 10 man GH unit , you dont build armies with 3 different hvy supports. Wh40k is about spaming stuff . It always was and always will be. utilityzero
my issue has always been, if you take one tank, they will shoot every anti-tank weapon they have at it. rhinos can sort of get around this cause they are going to pop smoke the first turn and then drop guys in the second and after that no one cares about them, but anything heavier than that is expected to shoot so they have to expose themselves and then you're just counting down until they get popped.
