40k in 14 days...

Grimtooth

Recommended Posts

So I had signed up for this Indy GT awhile back and was allowed to use an old 13th Co list. Well as of Friday/Saturday, I am now without an army and without a list. Hence a quick stop at Empire Games in Mesa.

What I purchased and a couple of boxes I had saved for release:

Day 1: Well it was actually kinda late when I got back to Tucson from Phoenix but I wanted to get started at least. So cracked open the SW termie box and came up with a wolf lord, rune priest, and a few wolf guard bu then crashed out.

Day 2: Slept in but stayed up late to get some stuff done.

Fast basing.

Close up of base, need to clean up edges with razor.

Last thing for night was to get blood claws armed.

That terminator in your second post, the one on the left, what weapon has he got?

hope you have fun doing this :)

I have a friend who is doing a Eldar Seer council army in less than 3 weeks for the GT qualifier, and i thought that wasn't enough (although all he is doing is srpaying everything red, and then painting on details, so its not that hard i.e everything got its basecoat in a day, and the details of the Wraithlord and Falcon (which may even be for openwar not GT..) are done.....

Deadlines are much better for painting i think..... then you can actually sit down for longer and think i need to paint this

The one on the left is my rune priest. I used the sorcerer's staff from the chaos terminator lord sprue, drilled out the chaos eye, clipped two spikes off the chaos star, and then added wolf icons to them. I need to pick up some fine wire to add some wolf tails, decide if I want to clip the last four spikes arond the icons, and then a little GS for the major gaps and I think I will be done with my force/runic staff weapon.

How are you going to base coat them when theyre on the painted bases?

Those are not painted Grey. That is textured wallpaper and will be base coasted when I coat the models. This was a test model I was working on my drybrushing skills while waiting for release to see where I was going to go with my new SW and you can see where I went with the textured wallpaper base.

That rune priest is really great. I really like the textured wallpaper idea for the bases, I may have to make a trip to Home Depot and get some of it. I thought it was maybe textured plastic card.

Good luck at the tournament, I wish I would have known about it Arizona isnt' that far from me now.

Day 3 continued: Well I am working out of town so set up my workspace in my hotel room.

Ramp doors cut, trimmed, and glued.

And stopping for the night tired as all hell from the drive today, work today, and working on the little coffee table with bad light. All bases and ramp doors done, started setting seats in one, and turbines done as well.

Fantastic idea for the Rune Priest. I would leave the four spikes but try and do something with the "head" at the top of the staff.

I might have to poke through my buddy's bitz box to see if he has any staffs lying around. I've been trying to find something I liked for the past few days and thought I might have to bash together a few different things. All my Wolves went to a friend getting into the game four years ago and I've spent the last three trying to get them back, though I am glad I had an excuse to get these new models.

That is the spot that I think I am going to be shaving down and attaching some wolf tails. I figure shave it evenly around and then attach three or four tails to create a shaman like spear with talismans hanging.

A whole army in 14 days... really hope you make it and if you do: respect!!

That Runepriest is awesome looking, love that staff. Can't wait to see something painted,

I hope to be painting by this Saturday night. That gives me almost the whole week.

Skip the stuff inside the drop pods! It's not needed. The seats are a pain to paint, and I think they look ugly honestly... especially if one of them is going to be delivering terminators. If anyone questions it, just say "Magnetic boots". Save yourself some time and effort, skip the seats. (If Dawn of War 2 can forgo seats in drop pods, you can too!)

Also, never put two wolf claws on SWs, it's too expensive, combi-weapon it up! Same goes for Storm Shield/Thunder hammer... stupidly expensive, there are better options.

Also, blood claws suck in this new edition, you're far better off using grey hunters.

I only say this because you're playing in a GT, and I assume that means you're goal is to compete, not just pump out an army in 2 weeks. Might as well pump out an effective army, eh?

Looks good so far though... keep it up!
