Day 4: Today was a pita. Woke up with massive allergies, went to work all day, got back to my hotel to down some allergy pills and then passed out. Woke up late evening so worked late to make up for it.

Started out with a test pod to see how everything went together and decide the easiest way to assembly line them. Never have put a pod together until this time and while initially a pain in the ass, not so hard once you get the tricks down. Clipped all plastics and started shaving mold lines, etc.

Halfway done!

Finished! I took out harnesses and hold downs for the termie pod (one in front) but clipped the airtank thingies and mounted them in the holes leftover so it would not look weird.

Just want to make a point about the right tool for the job. I forgot my nice and fancy model shop side cutter at home and since I had done that before, I just used my nail clippers. I stopped by a Harbor Freight tool store and picked up a couple set of these for $1.99 each! Work better then my high price ones sitting at home and way better then my finger nail clippers which are now back in my bag.

Day 5: Nothing to do. I am still out of town and thought the drop pods would have taken longer. No stores here that sell GW stuff so can't even buy my last pod to build. Oh well, means I have to work more this weekend to make up for a couple of lost days.
Primer?

You could always primer things.

I was thinking of doing that, but then they would be right in the hotel room afterwards with me and I would get some killer headaches trying to sleep with them drying in the room with me. At home I usually paint and leave them in the garage to dry.

Go man go, hope all works well and comes together for ya..

Yeah, lets see that list before you get to far into the project

Vrox.

Just a quick reply while at lunch,

Wolf Lord TDA, WC/SS

Rune Priest TDA FW/SB

3x Wolf Guard TDA

Pod

2x GH x10 MGx2/PF/MOW/Pod

1x GH x10 PGx2/PF/MOW/Pod

1x BCx10 MG/PP/PF/Pod

LF x6 2xML/3xHB/MG Pod

Few questions regarding your rune priest. What is a FW/SB? I get storm bolter, but FW has me stumped.

Which two psychic powers do you plan to use?

Have you thought of putting a WG with the BC's? Bezerker and Headstrong could make the BC, unmanageable, as in starting fights, they shouldn't <_<

Your list looks pretty balanced and a DP army usually, unsettles the opponent. I'll be following your project. Thanks for sharing.

FW = Force Weapon = Runic Weapon

JotWW and Living Lightening is what I am thinking. I look at those two as being the most versatile for the different armies I might be facing.

I was half tempted to run the BC pack with a WG to tone them down, but then got to thinking that I really want them to drop pod in and just raise hell. It is still an option with just a small shift in points, but I am liking the thought of BC running amok. Amok, amok, amok!

Actually made me retool my list. The melta gun with the BC would be a moot point since to get the double penetration roll I would need to be 6" or less which would trigger Headstrong and not be able to fire at all. So tossed a WGPL with TH in the squad to lead them and add more smashiness.

Why do you have no banners in your GH squads. and why take a 10 man BC unit when you can take a 10 man GH instead? I would just add standards, and change the BC to GH. The only way I'd ever take BC is with a WG baby sitter and a full force 15.

I think Wolf Standards are a joke. One per game use, only good for one assault phase, and only allow reroll of 1's. Not all misses, just 1's. And it is not like you can roll your to-hit rolls, see a bunch of 1's and then declare you want to use your Wolf Standard. You have to declare that you are using it and then HOPE to roll 1's in the next assault phase to actually use it. Not worth the points, especially to outfit all the squads that would use it.

Blood Claws should be part of any force just on matter of fluff, but also because on the charge, 10 Blood Claws will be getting off 40 attacks (subtract 2 for melta gun and PF). Even despite the lower WS, that is still a ton of attacks.

As for only taking Blood Claws in full force with a WG sitter, do you plan on foot slogging them across the board? The only thing able to carry them would be a 250pt LR Crusader which would put that single troop choice at over 550pts alone. No thanks.

i would take the 9 BC with a WG with PF and drop the fist in the BC pack as since the WG gets the fist at a discount he actually costs less than the BC model with the fist and he will have just as many attacks on the charge and one more in the next round or if they are charged. no reason not to take him.

I had the points to keep the PF in the squad and give the WGPL a thunder hammer. Right at 1747 now so the points shave of taking it from the BC and giving it to the WGPL becomes moots since the savings are not enough to actually get anything worthwhile.

1) Your not wrong, GHs will be better than BCs in most situations... but not all.

2) You cant takea full 15 and keep them in a DP, let alone give them a WGPL.

3) His style obviously incorporates the use of bloodclaws in this fashion, probly as a secondairy drop... but perhaps not. Theres many good playstyles out there, and that keeps the game interesting.

4) I wouldnt take the standards... at most Ill do that 1 per army for simple lack of convincing that theyre always worth it, not to mention the dubious fluff nature of it.

Like this list much better. Does not sound like your going to get alot of playtesting before the GT, thats kina scary. I hope you have played DP lists before now. :turned: Do try a banner in one of the packs, I think you might like it.

3 WG on the cheap suggestion would be PW/CM PW/SS CF/CombiFlammer

3 WG all out suggestion would be FB/SS+MB WC/SS+MB CF/SS

That suggestion was to keep to your orginal concept.

For a different approach I would run a WG in TDA CM/PF with all pods, drop your 10 man squads to 8, switch out the Power Fist for MotW and banner or Power weapon & banner. Then you can put a heavy weapon on one of your TDA HF/CF in your command pod would be my suggestion.

Day:6

Between work, driving home from working out of town, and then seeing the girlfriend, I got nothing done. Was able to go out and pick my last pod and another termie box that turns out I will not need.

Day 7:

Finally able to actually sit down and get some work done. I ended up having to make some stairs for work all day so then didn't get to the army till late but was able to clip, shave, trim, and set-up weapon load outs for the rest of the troops.

Day 8:

Spent another day working on the set of stairs I need to have on my jobsite this week but worked late tonight on the army.

All models are fully assembled and glued with exception of a few meltagun/bolter marines for ease of basecoat and painting. Started drilling barrels out and completing final check of mold lines for removal so I can basecoat and start painting tomorrow. So much for beginning paint on Saturday. I will be pulling some 16hr days on the army here this week.

It's still plenty to time left. Your a son o Russ, you will make it! Could I perhaps ask how much the army costed you? There is plenty of droppods, termis, and grey hunter packs. I guess like 200-Euro? Or is it more then that?

-Have a cold one on me.

Umm, my first purchase was close to $400.00 and then I am picking a couple more boxes up this week for some bitz and expanding the army for later. So almost $300 Euro right now.

Day 8: Continued....

So I was getting bored (no pun intended...lol) with barrel drilling and messing up every now and then. Haven't bored out barrels in forever and lost my touch a bit. So switched over to my wolf lord and magnetized his weapon load-out.

All done except some mold lines and shaving here and there.

Read the entry for the wolf standard again.

Its re-roll all 1's.. Not just 1's to hit.

Its the whole assault phase. To hit, wound, armor saves. I'd say its worth a lot more than 10 points, its a steal.

So true, it does not allow you to re-roll all your misses.. It does allow you to wound a few extra times and possibly save a few marines (meaning you would only fail armor saves on a 2 before the re-roll).

Oh and I'll see you at wild-west. I started my wolf army last weekend as well and will be complete in time for the tournament, but I don't want to steal your thunder here =P

Day 8: Continued more...

Decided I wanted to make my Grey Hunter special weapons guys my MoW guys to make up for not having his extra cc anymore. Decided to use the shoulder pad with the pelt across it to kinda be a symbol of hiding his affiliation while he goes all wulfen. Also placed the smaller banner pole on them so fellow wolf brothers know where not to stand by in cc......LOL!

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/Grimtooth_photos/IMG_0940.jpg

Awhile back I had done a test run on a Blood Claw. I had done a pretty cool scab red/blood red combo on his helm to make him stand out as a BC. So helmeted all my BC to do that again and symbolize them not being allowed to show there face until they really accomplish something that deserves them to be recognized.
