Mortis909
i was wondering whether it would be a good idea to take a wolf lord and 5 wolf guard all in TDA with 2 wolf claws each? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180561-wolf-claws/ Share on other sites
Brother Nemiel
I can only speak for myself: Only if you can throw them into CC very quickly... Say a Landraider rush or a sneaky drop pod. But thats just my opinion... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180561-wolf-claws/#findComment-2137779 Share on other sites
whitewolfmxc
but them either in drop pod or Land raider lol other wise everything will shoot at it (but that too can work as a fire magnet) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180561-wolf-claws/#findComment-2137780 Share on other sites
Quillen
Depends, are they bringing knives to a gun fight? In a Crusader they might get to kill some peeps, but I think Frost Blades is way better. Strength 5 is golden. And you can give them Storm bolters or combi weapons and they can range then melee. Wispy
I generally like to throw one thunderhamer in there, just in case you need to AV something or a monstrous creature comes along.. That's why Arjak as an upgrade is so appealing to me - he's THE thunderhammer to take. edit: and like Quillen says, the frost blades with combis or storm bolters are more pretty appealing then WC, as far as assault weapons go. Mortis909
thanks. would a land raider redeemer with a multi melta be a good idea for the squad or would a Godhammer or Crusader be better Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180561-wolf-claws/#findComment-2137786 Share on other sites
whitewolfmxc
crusader for range , as the wolf guard can take care of what can go into CC with , with the redeemer theres nothing much left to fight after the "cleanse and thats a waste of points on wolf guards with wolf claws , besides staying in CC for at least a turn helps you guys to get shot less Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180561-wolf-claws/#findComment-2137804 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
i was wondering whether it would be a good idea to take a wolf lord and 5 wolf guard all in TDA with 2 wolf claws each? No. Simple reason- you cant scratch armor 11 or T 8. Thats horrifying to me. Atleast one Str 6+, preferablly Str 8 with multiple attacks. Always. The only probeln with Frost and Combis is you have to manage to put the frost axes on the left arm.... (which can be done, but its not that easy, someone gave me a couple of tips yesturday on the 'models' thread if anyone wants to check it out....) Terrahawk
I think a Wolf Lord in TDA with Wolf Claws and Saga of the Warrior Born could be fun. 6 Attacks on the Charge / Counter-attack with rerolls is sure to cause some wounds. And the following turn after that... :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180561-wolf-claws/#findComment-2137818 Share on other sites
rodgers37
I am probably going to make 5 WC terminators.... just because against non- T8 or armour 11, they will be pretty good 4 attacks with some form of re-rolls if the charge or are charged, they will be pretty good. (CAN YOU HAVE 2 THUNDERHAMMERS on one model? it doesn't say you can't anywhere, and you can do it as far as i can tell.....) SamaNagol
1 Wolf Claw is statistically better than a Frost Blade against anything T5 or lower. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180561-wolf-claws/#findComment-2137912 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Statistics... meh. I know... mathhammer says alot of things, but I maintain that statistics are for people who dont understand math. Frostblades have abilities that WCs simply dont and for that I love them. Pt for pt they are more effective- remember a humble bolt pistol gets you +1 A here. Lastly, a reroll to wound is wonderful, but wounding on more numbers is also wonderful... and for people who have a habit of rolling alot of 3's, for whatever reason, the FB is divine providence.
