can some on break this down into basics...

i can see that you can give it to one SM in a squad that i understand as he doesnt have a power wep to waste

but why would you give it to a character with a powerfist. doesnt it waste the fist because the attacks are made with 'tooth and claw' so his normal strength and no AP

i have seen lists whrer people have given this to characters with 2xwolf claws so my question is if you dont use the war gear that you give the char would it not be better to use it with bolt p. and chain sword

I think you have got it right to be honest, The MoW cannot be used with special close combat weps although there is nothing stopping you from giving a moW model a special wep. The question can you actually choose to swap between the two? I.e use MoW to shred troops and then swap to a powerfist to tackle big stuff? I would say not as the description on page 62 of CSW says:-

"....Furthermore he replaces his usual attack characteristic with D6+1 , rolled immediately to when the model makes his attacks. These attacks are made using the marked models' claws and teeth, and hence not affected by wargear, additional hand weapons and so on, though they may be bolstered by other factors ( the bonus for charging, Logan Grimnars Living Legena bility etc.)

I thnink the key word in there is "replace" which is why I would say you lose you special attacks. Unless someone else can prove me wrong?

Edit-

MoW plus fist is a huge waste of points.

Taking MoW and a special weapon might be a good idea. I almost gave MoW to my melta skyclaw, but it didn't seem fluffy and the advantage for doing so is small at any rate.

Mark of the Wulfen must be made with the models hands and teeth, so you can't even gain the benefit of an extra hand weapon (bolt pistols, chainswords, close combat weapons, etc.). You must replace your Attacks characteristic (whatever it may be) with D6+1, and you get +1 bonus on the charge. You can stack on other bonuses, like Logan Grimnar's Inspiring Presence (or whatever it's called), but that's it.

SO it means that it's a waste to give Mark of the Wulfen to any character since they usually have a high number of attacks.
