Wolf Scouts Equipment Error?

Don't know if this has already been spotted and posted. I was looking at the codex last night and noticed a Wolf Scout armed with a storm bolter(Pg. 76, Second one down on the left). Thinking it looked good, I went to the army list entry, and noticed Wolf Scouts don't have any options for Storm Bolters. Either someone got a little too carried away with the converting or Phil left out the option by mistake (Or heaven forbid, they expect people to count them as heavy bolters.....)

 

Anyone else notice any equipment errors in the book?

Well, maybe there were going to take out shotguns and give our guys storm bolters, then thought twice about it and forgot to put back the shotgun as a option.

I wish we could still take shotguns, I loved them but they can now be used for my Arbites force.

Plus, there is a Wolf Scout armed with a Power Weapon and Bolt pistol, which is now not permitted. You have to swap the bolt pistol FOR the power weapon if you want one, leaving you with a PW + CCW combo.

 

Ha, hadn't noticed that one. I'll be ignoring that by the way and trading in the old CCW. I'm sure no one will mind....at least no one that I'd be playing anyway.

This one confuses me but I understand our scouts kick butt yet they are veterans and don't have access to "rare camo cloaks" wheras you could field an entire 'nilla company of scouts with them. Shame because my sniper scouts could do with an improved cover save.

The build i find interesting is wolf preist with saga of the hunter teaming with scouts , grants them out flank (they already have it) but also stealth ........so that with a team of sniper scouts .....what do you guys think ?

The reason is streamlining- they didnt want us to be able to field five scouts with two power weapons, two plasma pistols, and a meltagun- thus we had to have the PW and Pistols in a single option, and for ease of writing they just left as "you trade your bolt pistol".

 

Really, thats all it was.

Uh, WG can join skyclaw units.. as far as I can tell.

 

I like the bigger scout units, but the lack of viable options for builds is annoying.

 

I didn't see that as an option under Wolf Guard Pack (pg. 86). You can assign them to Blood Claws, Swiftclaw Bike Packs, Grey Hunters, Wolf Scouts, and Long Fangs... but not Skyclaw units. They can get jump packs, but can't join the unit. Odd. Of course you could make a Wolf Lord with a jump pack to give the Skyclaws a little extra punch (and leadership), but it doesn't seem like Wolf Guard are an option.

 

Maybe their patience in dealing with the young pups only goes so far. Blood Claws are manageable... but Blood Claws with jump packs? No thanks.

How would you write it that wouldnt have people constantly bickering? Im not saying it was the right way to go, just that we wont be seeing a FAQ on this one, because they just did it for simplicity.
