jjfelber
Is there anyway you can assault the same turn you disembark from a Drop pod? I mean with anything, HQ, Elites, troops, Dreadnoughts anything that can arrive Via Drop Pod. stinkenheim
no. it is not an assault vehicle and only counts as open topped after it has landed. the only exception to this is in planetstrike games where i believe units with deep strike are able to assault after arriving Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180780-drop-pods/#findComment-2140507 Share on other sites
Mar Bloodaxe
Even in planet strike models can't assault out of pods. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180780-drop-pods/#findComment-2140525 Share on other sites
stinkenheim
ahh, didnt realise that it didnt include drop pods, never played planetstrike, just knew that units with deep strike and monsterous creatures could assualt... is that correct? AdeptusDavidus
The Lucius-pattern Dreadnought drop pod is an Assault Vehicle, but I think it may be Apocalypse-only. Grey Mage
Drop Pods have the Deepstrike rule, sadly the marines inside do not- wich is why the C:SM and C:SW versions clarify this. The Lucius-pattern Dreadnought drop pod is an Assault Vehicle, but I think it may be Apocalypse-only. Its opponents consent only- remember, nothing Forgeworld has ever made is actually a 40k ruling- thus everything needs to be agreed to before hand. IA 2 is a cool toy, but its an expensive and only if everyone agrees to play nice toy. KiltedMarine
That's the major stumbling block of drop pods, alas. Personally, I think it goes against the fluff for them not to be assault vehicles, but I can entirely understand why- deep striking and assaulting on the same turn would be overpowered. One more reason I'm happy to have inexpensive jump packers now- since they have Deep Strike on their own, they become downright ugly in Planetstrike! Grey Mage
Yeah... and the only unit in our army that can do it... Wait! thats not true anymore, we can get incredibly expensive, albiet scary, WGJPs.... Now theres a question- in planetstrike, is it models or units with the DS rule, because adding a WG w/ JP to a GH squad might allow him to assault a bastion out of DS. Though that would be an incredibly beardy ruleslawyering thing to do. KiltedMarine
I think, but don't have the rulebook to hand, so can't be sure, that the rule states "units" rather than "models." You would be better off assualting with skyclaws for the extra attacks.
