where is the best place for the Old Wolf

White Hunter

So I was wondering what unit would best be served by Grimnar being attached to it. A unit of long fangs in a drop pod with relentless, A unit full of terminators with 2x CML footslogging with tank hunters. An Assault oriented WG squad with preferred enemy? what does everyone think? p.s. this is what I beileve I am running at 2500 points

10x WG, 5x in Power armor, 2x TDA with TH+SS with 2 cyclones, 3x TDA with dual wolf claws 420 footslogging unit

This gives me 4x S9 shots a turn with tank hunters on the march in with 5 "cheap" meat shields for when I start taking fire. then once I get into CC I switch to preferred enemy and can tear up just about anything.

How do you guys think you will run the Great Wolf?

I'll be using Conchobar Redspear (my personal "counts as" Logan) with my Long Fangs, on the occasions I use him.

Relentless podded Long Fangs means a lascannon, two plasma cannons and a heavy bolter shooting on the drop-in. That's one dead infantry unit, or a couple of hurting light vehicles, and one anti-tank shot. Can't go wrong with it, and it's cheaper points-wise than a huge pack of termies.

I'd change out that lascannon for a multimelta (of course, I haven't rechecked to make sure Long Fan. You're going to be close range anyway, might as well take the shot more likely to pen and more likely to kill the tank.

When I use the High King of Fenris, he'll be leading his Wolf Guard in TDA, and will be found where the fighting is the thickest. No hanging back with the Long Fangs, but instead, setting an example for the Blood Claws.

Just my 2 cents...

Add me to this school of thought. He is a major offensive unit. I suppose Tank Hunters and Relentless with Long Fangs is nice but I much prefer Preferred Enemy, Axe Morkai, Eternal Warrior and +1 attack when it's needed with a group of bada$$ TDA Wolf Guard at the schwerpunkt of the battle.
