Brother Tyler
GATHERING THE FEAST Small Formation POINTS: 100 + MODELS The details of their betrayal are not common knowledge, however it is known that the Sons of Malice took part in formal rituals of cannibalism. Whether this was to gain the power of their defeated foes or prove their complete dominance over the enemy is unclear. As the Sons were pushed further into the grip of Chaos, their raids for new sacrifices grew more brazen. Often they would occur in the middle of a conflict. The effect of these hunts on their opponents was incredibly demoralizing and more than made up for the seemingly poor allocation of manpower. FORMATION: 1-3 Chaos Rhino 1+ Chaos Space Marine Squad 0-1 Chaos Terminator Squads 0-1 Chaos Possessed Squads 0-1 Chaos Chosen Squads 0-1 Chaos Biker Squads 0-1 Chaos Havock Squads SPECIAL RULES: Icon of True Chaos (25 points): Units with this mark radiate with the pure essence of the warp. All units without the Mark of True Chaos suffer -1WS, -1BS and -1LD values. The Mark of True Chaos must be given to every non-vehicle unit that is part of the formation. Collectors (free): All units with the Icon of True Chaos selected as part of the formation gain the "Collector" upgrade for free. Each casualty caused by a Collector unit will fill a Rhino with the MeatWagon upgrade capacity by 1 captive per wound of the casualty. Only kills made in close combat count towards this capacity. If there are more then 1 Rhino with the MeatWagon upgrade on the board, the capacity goes to the nearest Rhino. MeatWagon (free): All Rhinos selected as part of the formation gain the "Meatwagon" upgrade for free. If at the end of the game, the MeatWagon Rhino has a full capacity of ten (10) captives, it counts as +1 objectives for determining the winner. If the MeatWagon Rhino does not have a full capacity, it counts as -1 objectives (to represent Malice's disfavor at their failure). All Rhinos with the MeatWagon upgrade also gain the Extra Armor upgrade for free as well.) DESIGNER’S NOTES: (None provided) Please discuss this datasheet by replying in this topic. incinerator950
Why would having a Rhino full of victims to be eaten be something Malice (Malal) cares about? He's a god of Malice and revenge, not hunger and cannibalism. Brother Tyler
JUDGES’ COMMENTS: Bannus: BALANCE: Average. The penalties inflicted by the mark of True Chaos are OTT. That is the only element that really hurts this datasheet. It provides both advantages and disadvantages that are risky to both sides. Is it Apoc appropriate? Not sure if it belongs in a homegrown Codex instead. USABILITY: Average. It is a relatively small formation that easily built using existing models in the army - just not in the Apoc setting. ADHERENCE TO THE BACKGROUND MATERIAL: Excellent. Very flavorful with a lot of thought put into it. Corpse.: Hm, this has a problem of no distance on the marks, again I will assume its 6" range for the negative stat modifier, that also affects vehicles dreadnoughts and the fearless models that see with other means then what’s noted here. The meatwagon upgrade is very hard, you can have them all come in reserves in droves and win without firing a shot. This is impossible to beat with a competent opponent, or a dozen going after just you and ignoring all the titans on the table to just drag out a draw. This is very unfair. Balance is a below average; Usability is good; Adherence to fluff (for the sake of making rules that are impossible to play fairly) is below average. Gillyfish: Above Average. Nice idea, but doesn't fit with Malal. Honda: Average. JamesI: Good. What happens when a “Meatwagon” is killed? Is it still -1 objective? I’d also like to see a maximum number of Chaos Marine squads, say 1-6. I think the cost is fine, in fact it may be too high by a little.
