Angry Angron
So i've been tinking about starting warhammer 40k after a LONG break after i saw the new space wolves, the thing is i would like to give some of my wolves some finnish names and attitudes^^. Would you scandinavians and wolf lovers find that insulting? I was thinking about marking the characters/squads a little differently with example like a bear logo instead of a wolf couse there are alot of bears around here but otherwise the same. I tought as that they would be a little calmer and quiet but when angered really crazy (kindof like a bear). I really like the color scheme of space wolves so i did'nt want it to be a different chapter. Please if you have any ideas share them and if you hate it tell me and sorry for my bad english. There are Dark Angels and vanilla marines planning to rip off the codex dude. A Bear themed army is hardly gonna piss us off compared to those others :) I actualy like your idea, it sounds funa nd original. Winterseven
I agree with BC Kezef - At the end of the day it's your army, your models. Providing you have fun and enjoy them you can do what you want with them :) My Blood claws are painted in a Rust Coloured Armour becuase otherwise i'd get bored of painting the same colour (that said my grey hunters are going to be a mix of Fenris/Shadow Grey) ... dublindawg
There is a Bear related saga and I think one of the bits in the TDA kit is a bear skin (haven't gotten that kit so I don't know for sure). There is a guy on here doing an Celtic themed army, a traitor army and every variety in between. Have fun with it and kick some butt in the name of the all-father/bear... Angry Angron
Do you guys think it would somehow be possible that they somehow got some fenno scandinavian gene seed(?) from anywhere so that the would act in a stereotypical way just for the fluff. There are a thousand chapters mate, not all of the foundings where listed. Anything is possible. Rather than that, just set your wolf army as a great company who suffered a great tragedy of their own making. A badly prepared assault or something. Their wolf lord took voluntary exile and the great company went with him, and they set up home in the darkest recesses beneath the fang. They are a somber, pale people, given to introspection and contemplation rather than brash and rowdy like their cousins. There could even be trolls in these catacombs, as those are mentioned as living on Fenris at least once. Terrahawk
Being a Finn myself I think this is a great idea. There's a lot of great stuff in ancient Finnish mythology, which has been greatly influenced by the Norse mythology existing during that time. It really is no wonder considering how close we are situated geographically. So go ahead, let your imagination run loose. And slay those heretics in the name of Ukko!! (our equivalent to Thor) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180915-space-wolves/#findComment-2142971 Share on other sites
