Shield design for my wolf lord

ok, i want your opinions on how im planning to do my shield. being bjorn stormwolf, i figured there should be lightning and such like. however i didnt want to just paint an image onto the shield, so using a technique i've been working on for a while now i decided to paint it as if it had been etched onto a bronze shield.

What I would do is make the central wolf a bit bigger so Bjorn proudly displays his thunderwolf icon. The storm picture certainly works very well on the shield, have you considered making the lightning come from behind the wolf in a radial pattern?

I have no idea what technique your going to actually use on the shield, so it's kind of hard for me to envision what it will actually look like. Like actually bronze or more of the flat orange color in you photoshop. I'd be a good idea to use a dark gray color on the wolf if your keeping the orange color.

Congrats on the greenstuffing by the way, I want to see how this guy will turn out. ;)

Make a tutorial. It's that good.

Actually it's pretty simple. Take a storm picture, modify the with the Hue & Saturation filter. Cut out the shield shape with the ellipse tool. Add the wolf icon with slight opacity tuned down and add Bevel and Emboss filter to both objects. Done!

ok, this is the best pic i could get of the shield as it stands... i think im gonna gve the wolf another coat of chainmail (and possibly a highlight of mithril) before glazing it with sepia again to get the copperish colour back.

commetns please guys... oh the edge is gonna be goldish, brighter than the centre of the shield

:cuss hats off to you that is great and i hate you a little bit for it :P (i'm just jealous i cant paint like that).

Keep up the good work and hope to see a pic when its fin

Looks better in the follow up shot. Initially in the first pic, the icon would've looked better more alligned with the arm behind it rather than what appeared to be a "nose up" angle. Like I said, in the follow up it looks much better. You'll HAVE to post some finished shots when you are done. Otherwise we'll hunt you down and destroy all your paint brushes, seriously.

Yeah we will form a strike team.
