Heru
Killed by Ghorox Bloodfist a Champion of Chaos wielding a a "Daemon-tainted axe". The "why" is so that Ragnar could succeed him (becoming Wolf Lord of Berek's Great Company) and avenge his death. FuriousFerret
Because Berek is an inconveniently placed Wolf Lord, a place holder for Ragnar the golden poster boy. As to how, any way that allows the fluff writers to allow Ragnar to shine. Silly question. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180946-berek-thunderfist-dying/#findComment-2142574 Share on other sites
fisheyedbunny
is this in the books from the 2nd Space Wolf omnibus? I'm still on book 1 :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180946-berek-thunderfist-dying/#findComment-2142896 Share on other sites

They are there to die, gloriously, but die just the same. Nah, it's more like how in prequel movies (which could apply to the new Trek movie) that characters that hold the position our characters are destined to have will either die, or get promoted, and in this case, Grimnar aint going nowhere, so we know what our dear Berek's fate will be :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180946-berek-thunderfist-dying/#findComment-2142918 Share on other sites
Heru
is this in the books from the 2nd Space Wolf omnibus? I'm still on book 1 :) No it's in the new Space Wolf Codex (page 20 - The Avenging of Lord Thunderfist & page 55 - Ragnar Blackmane). dragon950
They just briefly go over it in the last Ragnar book, Wolf's Honor. Why do you think they don't mention Berek except when Ragnar is recalling the past. Sharpsilver
Because Lee Lightner is a terrible writer and should be forced to eat his books? Lee Lightner is actually TWO terrible writers, actually.. Agreed. William King should have continued till the sixth. Valerian
is this in the books from the 2nd Space Wolf omnibus? I'm still on book 1 ;) No it's in the new Space Wolves Codex (page 20 - The Avenging of Lord Thunderfist & page 55 - Ragnar Blackmane). It's also in the old Space Wolves Codex (the 2nd edition one, that actually had some fluff in it), I believe. Don't have it with me here, but will try to remember to double-check it. Vlk
Not right, guys, it's NOT in the Space Wolf novel series. In Wolf's Honour, Berek is struck by Madox wielding the Spear of Russ but recovers in the end of the book to stop the Exterminatus of Charys :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180946-berek-thunderfist-dying/#findComment-2144145 Share on other sites

hmk17
The "Lee Lightner" books were okay. Wolf's Honor being the better of the two. Avid Space Wolves fans they may be, the best writers... not so much. Berek's death is touched on in Wolf's Honor, a passing reference that it would occur. The new codex goes into detail of who done it and why Ragnar was selected to replace Berek. Why does he have to die? To make way for the once-and-future Great Wolf in Ragnar Blackmane. GunnerRed
You guys really thought Lee Lightner was bad? I liked the books very much actually. They weren't that bad but they are bad compare to William King. What happened to William King did he have a falling out with Black Library or something? Yeah, as I recall GW was trying to push him around a bit with his fluff, and he told them no... and left. But it wasnt over SWs... we just happened to lose out on the deal anyways.
