FlamingDeth
Upon looking at the pictures, my first thought is that the bases are totally freaking awesome. The next thought was that some of the models are looking a little flat. Going over them with a wash or two, and getting some hardlining on the edges of the armor ought to fix that right up, though. General Ravensong
Holy Smokes Batman! Grey Greyknights! this man is a genius! but seriously, it may be that I don't troll these forums enough, but nearly every grey knight i've seen up until this point has either been silver or unpainted (and silver). Honestly, kudos to you for that. Also: great job on the bases Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180963-gils-grey-knights/#findComment-2142785 Share on other sites

gil galed
Thanks all lovely words  Upon looking at the pictures, my first thought is that the bases are totally freaking awesome. And in response yes some of the knights do look a bit flat in the pics, in the metal however they have more definition, although i think some of them could use a bit more shading Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180963-gils-grey-knights/#findComment-2142941 Share on other sites
Heimdal
When I see the models I see that there is much love put into them :D Great work! I do agree however with CardinalVirtue, they would be even better with highlightning Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180963-gils-grey-knights/#findComment-2143561 Share on other sites
David the Despoiler
Some white edge high lighting should straighten that out. :) And I really am loving those bases, they truly are gorgeous. lotsa_terminators
they look really good, and I'm glad to see you went with "grey" knights, and not the shiny metallic ones I've seen so many of. Good stuff man! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180963-gils-grey-knights/#findComment-2143834 Share on other sites
KJB
So i'm back at uni again (the cold of durham :D ) That place is tropical compared to here in Newcastle! I'm rather impressed with the free hand on the shields, I know from personal experience that it ain't easy... Did you use a brush or a pen to do them? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180963-gils-grey-knights/#findComment-2146777 Share on other sites

Brush, and I do agree, been sitting on a hill all afternoon in newcastle, freezing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180963-gils-grey-knights/#findComment-2146841 Share on other sites
Magnus Thane
Wow. Love it! Having recently picked up 2 GK's, I plan to start a GK force as soon as I finish painting my last BL minis and Rhino. I see you went for Grey over silver/metal. An esthetic choice? A few questions: - How did you do the cool blue crackling blades? - How did you make the bases and lava effect? - The shouldershield 'emblems' did you paint them freehanded? In any case good job! And good luck at uni! I finished Uni last Summer... and I already miss it. gil galed
- How did you do the cool blue crackling blades?- How did you make the bases and lava effect? - The shouldershield 'emblems' did you paint them freehanded? 1/ Painted them blue then added lines in a mix of white and blue with the first line thick then progressively thinner and lighter lines within the previous lines, i'll try and get a tutorial done when i go home in a few weeks 2/ The bases were bought from Dark Art Miniatures, which are a fantastic service, I also have an entire tau army based using their urban bases. In regards to painting the bases are sprayed black. The lava is then painted red, then orange, then yellow as it gets towards the centre. Small bits of white are also added to the "hottest" areas. The hardened rock is then dry brushed a 50:50 mix of codex grey and chaos black. 3/ All painted freehand Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/180963-gils-grey-knights/#findComment-2149818 Share on other sites
