Something that doesn't really jibe...

In the new Codex, They tell the stories of Grimnar and Ulrik.

In those stories, Grimnar led the Space Wolves against Angron in the first war for Armageddon.

In Ulrik's story, he's the oldest non-dreadnought in the chapter, and trained Grimnar.

How then, in the same story, can he be a Wolf Guard (not even Wolf Priest yet) in Kruger's Great Company that first comes to prominence in the first war for Armageddon, when Grimnar is already Great Wolf and leading the forces there?

i dont think it says he trained grimnar, but instead was a mentor to him. it could be seen as being more an advisor to the great wolf when ulrik became the high wolf priest than actually having to train him from a bloodclaw (dont forget the training is left to the wolf guard, wolf priests induct them and oversee the transformation but thats about it in terms of military training)

this isn't new fluff, it was in the old codex and never sat right there either, but thats the way i would look at it

+edit+ could be wrong, it says logan fought his way through the ranks under the watchful eye of ulrik... maybe with ulrik as a wolf guard before grimnar became great wolf that is where he mentored him... it doesnt say ulrik trained grimnar as a wolf priest

I think it's just some over-zealous fluff writer retconning the story for Ulrik and not thinking it through entirely.

As far as I'm aware, Logan has always been mentored by Ulrik (the Slayer), so I think the issue is with Ulrik's story.

@Stinkinhelm

If you actually read Logan's story, it says that he rose through the ranks "under the watchful eye of Ulrik the Slayer", an honorific that according to the Codex, Ulrik didn't get until the First War for Armageddon (wherein Logan Grimnar was already the Great Wolf.

As per all Aspirants and young Wolves, they are all trained and kept under the tutelage of Wolf Priests, not Wolf Guard. Ulrik's story also goes on to explain that Ulrik was not made Wolf Priest until the end of the First War.

its the same story throught all 3 SW codex's. It does not make sence But thats GW writers for you

Even if ulrick remained a wolfd gaurd for so long that he saw grimnar as a BC, Grimnar was obviously in a seperate great comapany so Ulrick would not have been watching him, great companies operate seperatly.
