You want to read Horus Rising, False Gods, then Galaxy in Flames before anything else really. Even though the rest of the books are kind of independent, these first thee (which are kind of like one big book split into three parts) form the basis of the whole series.

Flight of the Eisenstein and Fulgrim depend somewhat on one having read the first 'trilogy' of books to get the most out of them, the former in particular.

so as the title sudgests what order do the horus heresy come in. i'de like to know before i go out and just buy random books lol.

The current books in order:

1. Horus Rising - Dan Abnett

2. False Gods - Graham McNeill

3. Galaxy in Flames - Ben Counter

4. The Flight of the Eisenstein - James Swallow

5. Fulgrim - Graham McNeill

6. Descent of Angels - Mitchel Scanlon

7. Legion - Dan Abnett

8. Battle for the Abyss - Ben Counter

9. Mechanicum - Graham McNeill

10. Tales of Heresy - Kyme & Priestley

11. Fallen Angels - Mike Lee

And to come:

12. A Thousand Sons - Graham McNeill

13. Prospero Burns - Dan Abnett

14. Nemesis - James Swallow

The first three have to read in order, then read Eisenstien, Fulgrim overlaps the first 3 quite alot, then the rest in pretty much any order you like apart from the 'Angels books 6 n 11 they must be read in that order to make sence but don't tye in with rest of the Heresy books at the moment, so don't have to be read at all.
