Colour

Hey all, about to start the new wolves, going for a new squad, sorry, pack, and I wanted to collect Engir Krakendooms, great company (I live right next to the ocean) the only problem is I don't know if I should still paint their shoulder pads yellow, or should i paint them another colour? because the only space wolves I've seen so far have been Ragnar's company. who I don't really like. also, I download some transfers off here, but I don't know whether when I apply them to block them in black? or just leave them white?

P.S. = Anyone have any fluff on Engir Krakendoom? because I would really like to model him

Thanks in advance for answers.

Pick a color you think goes well with the Grey or Blue-grey you want for your SWs- each WL has his own shoulder colors.

I use red on each shoulder for my line troops as an example- and Im fielding the Firewolves.

You could easily use a seafoam green as an example, or red or yellow or....

Just make sure you like it, and make sure you stick with it.

BT- pack markings are:

Red/yellow: Bloodclaws.

Red/black: Grey Hunters.

Black/White: Longfangs.

Black/Yellow: Wolf Gaurd.

hrmm... and I cant seem to remember scouts. I want to say its black and blue, but Im probly wrong.

Anyways, you may want to take that into account with your other shoulder, should you choose to use these pack markings. I reccommend it for fluff, but its not like its a canon law or anything.

As for "Krakendoom" I have nothing concrete for you- Ive heard two stories of how he got his name, and another of how he became a wolf lord... but never cited.

I am intending on taking the same great company and for colours I was planning the pale blue background and white iconography that it shows in the codex.

With regards to his fluff, there is some to be found on google, but he's essentially a norse style raider of the traditional type who started out raiding from ships. He now favours armoured assaults with troop transports and outriding bike squadrons.

Bear in mind if you print out those transfers on transparent paper, you'll have a clear centre, and if you print them out on white paper, you'll have to cut around them very accurately.

If you plan on using a black symbol rather than white, just fill them in in a paint application before you print.

My plans for modelling him, however, I'm keeping to myself for now. :P

Old English still retains the 'ou' combination in words where the newer English removed it for the simpler 'o' only. Colour = Color, Armour = Armor and so on. It isn't necessarily wrong. It's commonly accepted and recognized as "Proper" in many places around the world. You might have a better understanding and acceptance of it if you ever left your own borders...........Just sayin'.

I am pretty sure he was just trolling, which is why I ignored it. It seems to be what he does.

And there was a pressing need for you two to call someone an ignorant troll when he was clearly attempting some good natured ribbing?

Sure, he didn't say anything to aid the OP, but neither did the dude I quoted.

Could you quote me calling him an "ignorant troll" please?

Otherwise, just drop the extraneous adjectives and calm down, there's a good pup.

Apparently, "leaving your own borders" has it's disadvantages. Turns you into a humorless douche. Or humourless if you prefer.

it turns you into a shower?

You are correct, pages 76 and 80 of the new codex has the Scout pack marking as black on their blue-grey armor. This, however, is a retcon from the old colors. From the 2nd Edition Codex until now, the traditional markings for Wolf Scouts were always White and Red. I hadn't even noticed the change until you just pointed it out to me. I guess someone finally realized that White and Red aren't very helpful when you are trying to be stealthy.

Thanks,

V

Yeah I was pretty sure they used to be the colours you mentioned, but couldn't remember when/if they changed before now so I went with the safe option.

As you say, much more sensible for sneaking around in. Now, just those shocking white pants to deal with...

Folks, let's watch the derogatory comments, off topic comments, and further attempts at derailing the thread.

If you can't post helpful comments, or have nothing to say, then please remain silent and do not post at all.

Also remember a "sense of humor" quite subjective so don't assume anyone will understand your point of view.
