A New Saga Begins Here...

Howdy folks. I've been lurking around here for some time and today I finally got my new Wolves in after a hassle of a delay.

I'm starting the prep tonight and through salvage and new buys should have plenty to go at.

To top it off I'm also a semi-pro photographer so liberal lashings of pictures will be incoming as the work progresses.

Starting off in five minutes time with the conversion of a TDA Wolf Lord from the Chaos Lord kit. Then on to the Wolf Guard.

Enjoy.

Prep area is ready, I'm using resin bases from Foundations of War. Decent price for nice bases.

So far I have built a Landspeeder Tornado and the bikes for 5 Swiftclaws and an attack bike as well as a Land Raider Crusader which I will take some pics of later.

I like where this is going AesricNightprowl.

However, when you snap pictures, try to get a white background (ordinary paper is excellent) so your models stands out more and dont get cluttered down by the background. It saves bandwidth as well

Here we go, the lord and some better pics of the speeder.

Sorry about the colour, my batteries are flat in my flashgun after a shoot the other day and the D300 pop up flash sucks.

Wow! Nice lord, really love the Conversion.

I'm going to be doing something similar actually.. making a SW/CSM force that can be played as either side. And the lord i was thinking of is going to look something similar to yours, nice work!

They all look really good, except for the Terminator with the Wolf Head who looks like he is trying to find a lost contact lens. Well done though on the dynamic poses!

Hi, I'm an amatuer landscape photograhy buff, but I'm not equipped to take close-up pics. I have step-up lens but my problem is with the lighting I think?

My SW armour is grey but it's coming out with a bluish tint. I think it has to do with the lighting or the White Balance on the SLR. Any pointers?

That can be a range of things, what camera are you using out of interest?

Nominally I would take such pics into photoshop and play with them there to correct it. But I would recommend using a flash gun with the diffuser down angled upwards, this will get a good spread of lighting on the models. White balance I would always say use auto or flash setting, trying to custom rig it for something like this is always awkward.

These were taken with the pop up flash, the only reason they came out sharp is down to the lens I'm using is almost impossible not to take a sharp image with.

I would also play around with your other settings, aperture in particular just to see different ways of taking pictures. I have to relearn every time I switch environments, I'm primarily a high end alternative fashion/dark glamour photographer. Landscapes are a totally different ball game to me, same for sports but I give it a go.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. I'll try using a flash gun with the diffuser down angled upwards as suggested with the next batch of models and see how it goes. It sounds like a good idea. My camera is a Canon EOS 400d SLR and the lens I'm using is a 50mm standard. As for photoshop, you're right. I could play around with them, but I grew up with film so I was conditioned to get it right at the shoot. Habits die hard.

Thanks again and cheers :)
