Rune Priest and warrior born

The Title pretty much asks the question, is the warrior born saga on a rune priest worth the price?

Only against daemons, and the Rune Weapon 2+ to wound. Against pretty much anything else, he'd be far better used as support. A RP only has up to 4 attacks on the charge, he'd only get 1 wound against MEQ. Those points are better spent on other squads. The base cost of a RP is plenty enough for him, he really doesn't need much more added to him. Except maybe Chooser of the Slain to block infiltraters.

I don't believe that it is. The Rune Priest has a lot of good "supporting" psychic powers, but isn't a close combat monster. He can hold his own, and will do quite well against daemons with his rune weapon, but otherwise isn't all that spectacular in an assault. He is probably best used in a way that allows him to continue to effectively use his psychic powers, and not chasing down close combat opportunities to build his warrior born attacks.

BeastSlayer is a much better (and cheaper to boot) Saga on Rune Priests. The best part is that it works with Living Lightning.

Let's say that you face Nurgle Deamons (pure coincidence :D ) and have a Chooser of the Slain.

You shoot at Plaguebearers with Lightning, hitting on 2+ with re-rolls, and then assault them, hitting on 3+ with re-rolls and wounding on 2+.

That's a lot of dead daemons for only 120 pts, and this also works on Bloodcrushers, Carnifex... any models with T5 or more and I4 or less. :P
