Brother Santios
Ok i'm a new Wolves 'player' (as in making up my first Wolves army) Can someone please clarify the numbers for Long Fangs As I read it I can take 5 heavy weapons for 5 members of the squad / pack and still take a squad / pack leader ? Therefore making 6 Long Fangs in total ?? Sorry if this sounds bone and thanks in advance for any help given. Nilsson
1-Pack leader Up to 5 Pack members that can carry heavy weapons, so six in total. Personally, I love the setup Pack Leader /w Power Weapon 2x Plasma Cannons 3x Heavy Bolters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181208-long-fangs/#findComment-2145480 Share on other sites
Brother Santios
Thanks for the clarification I'm thinking about: 2 x Heavy Bolters 2 x Lascannons 1 x Missile Launcher then the pack leader with a plasma pistol and chainsword ... as ... well ... thats all that was left on the spru haha but looks nice either way :-) This should allow me to have anti troop and anti anti tank specialists with the Missile Launcher ther to be used for either task as required... Any comments would be welcomed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181208-long-fangs/#findComment-2145487 Share on other sites
ChaosPhoenix
I think you should try to stay with one purpose for the packs, if you need to concentrate firepower on one unit. I like 3x Heavy Bolter 2x Plasma and 3x Missile Launcher 2x LasCannon And I might try a 4x Multimelta wall of fear in the middle of the board to scare tanks. But I'm really not sure about this. I understand where your coming from with that and to be honest i've tried to stay away from Devs / Long Fang type choices before however i'm going for a troop heavy option with meltas / plasma in the packs this squad alto expensive is hopefully just going to be a multi purpose anchor to the rear of my line - holding a pintle type position if possile ... i might revisit it or add a second pack ... then it gets away from the fluff side tho ... frustrating hahaha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181208-long-fangs/#findComment-2145499 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Im all for taking a pack of Long Fangs in an army- theyre a good option thats long been undervalued and are sorely needed with the new codex being harder pressed for AT firepower than ever before. Brother Santios
I was just readin the suggestions for Plasma Cannons - I have to be honest i'm a bit of a coward when it comes to them. I mean ... I just dont like my own weapons blowing up in my face :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181208-long-fangs/#findComment-2145510 Share on other sites

Brother Santios
I like 4/5 Multi-Meltas :D I love Multi-Meltas but then it would be a lift from my Salamanders ... The agony of wanting each army to be unique in look and playing style haha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181208-long-fangs/#findComment-2145529 Share on other sites

Brother Santios
Multi-meltas + razaorback = win Idealy i want to go for a foot slogging army - Altho Land Raiders / Razorbacks etc are awesome I think i'm going to theme this army for Cities of Death so lots of independant nails units and characters The Long Fangs squad are going to be my 'holding' force with prob 5 Blood Claws and a Wolf Guard to hold them on an objective - this should stop them getting pulled of by cunning squad placement Thoughts on the matter are always welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181208-long-fangs/#findComment-2145593 Share on other sites
Ikken
hi thought I would put my question on long fangs in this thread as it was related . for tomorrows game , I am going to be running a LF pack . 4 LF + 1 PL + WGBL + Rune Priest I have them kitted out as follows : LFPL stock no upgrades LF : ML , PC , LC , HB WGBL , Bolter or a storm bolter . haven't decided. RP , storm bolter , living lightning , jaws of the world wolf. I split the LF pack up all with diff gear to take advantage of wound allocation , and partly because of model availability . the WGBL is there more to be a spare wound than anything else ,pluse in order to use WGBLs for my other squads I need to have a unit size of 3 so he was spare any way . I am not sure putting the RP with the squad is a good idea ,i could break him off and give him the WGBL as a body guard but i think he will work well with the LF back . my question is does an IC and/or a WGBL that join a LF pack with a PL gain the ability to split their fire with the pack as long as the PL is alive ? basicly is this a legal and functional way to run this squad ? or am i going to run into problems with rules conflicts and one chars ability messing up what he or the squad wants to do ? RP , storm bolter , living lightning , jaws of the world wolf. [Lots of text] Basically you are tying up a humongous amount of points in a static unit. And with a really diverse weapon load. Personally I would have got ML to each LF and an extra Wolf Guard to the unit. That alone will land at about 160 points (which is about the same cost as a naked RP and WGBL) +edit+ Reading through your post I notice that you mix up a WGBL (HQ) with a Wolf Guard (Elite) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181208-long-fangs/#findComment-2145756 Share on other sites
