Mar Bloodaxe
Hello, Say I purchased 10 WG as troops due to Logan being in my army. I then split a few off and place them to join other units, say a Long fang unit within 3 inches of an objective. If the WG that was added to the LF unit, and is within 3 inches of an objective at the end of the game, does the WG still remain a scoring model to claim that objective even though the unit he joined is not scoring itself? Thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181295-question-on-wolfguard-as-troops/ Share on other sites
Bonham1963
It does say that WG units count as troop. WG in other units count as pack leaders, so the answer would be no. LPetersson
Nice try though. :D. Whenever they are detached to another unit just count them as an upgrade character for that unit... because thats what they are. But they are clearly not upgrade characters. They are taken from another unit and assigned to that unit. It may be an upgrade in C:SM, but we don't use C:SM, we use C:SW where the WG is taken from a different unit. Otherwise, how would that WG count towards the needed number of troops in another squad for determining what weapons they can choose? Gyson_Vore
Well, in the old dex, no matter what role a Wolf guard member filled (whether it was a pack leader or body guard) it counted for the limit of twenty. So applying that logic, if you bought one as a pack leader, it counts as an elites. Just my 2 cents though. stinkenheim
they become part of the new unit (long fangs for instance) at the beggining of the game are are no longer treated as part of the parent unit (the wolf guard unit) and as such will not be considered a troops choice in this example. Are they part of a unit other then their origional? Yup. So... what else can they be, legally? The Wolf Gaurd attached to a squad count as part of that squad until that squad is eliminated, then the WG would revert back to what ever he was before he joined the squad.
