chris-kirky
not bad but i think you should go back and neaten up some of your highlights also try using a thinner brush for the writing on the armour althungh i quite like the red on the chainswords Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181309-some-bt-im-working-on/#findComment-2147112 Share on other sites
Blender
Alright, I'll go fix the highlights and thanks for the response :). Well after another day, I've painted another model. http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7823.jpg http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7818.jpg http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7820.jpg Although it was my first vehicle i have ever painted, the dreadnought was extremely fun to paint. Due to the hard edges, highlighting was easy. It's hard to see in the pictures but the highlights have transitions on them. But after viewing the pictures up close, the highlights look sloppy... C&C welcome. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181309-some-bt-im-working-on/#findComment-2147800 Share on other sites
Lord Exedore
strong highlights are ok. The free hand cross looks like I could have painted it :) Good tabletop quality imho. chris-kirky
highlights look better on the dread! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181309-some-bt-im-working-on/#findComment-2148380 Share on other sites
Rythlan
The highlighting on the dread looks good! Pictures seem harsh unless taken just right. This army should look good on the field! One comment: it looks like you put a single coat of red on the cables for the TLLC. It has a reverse shade thing going on. My solution to this is to do several coats of red to get it nice and even, the a wash of either dev. mud or b.black. Please note that I am not a very good painter, so take any suggestions with a grain of salt. Or a whole salt shaker. Blender
@Rythlan Thanks for that tip. I'll fix the cables when I have time. Anyways, I completed another initiate--just didn't have time to post it. http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7827.jpg http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7837.jpg http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7839.jpg Perhaps I should do some litanies on him. He looks a bit plain. Thoughts? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181309-some-bt-im-working-on/#findComment-2152626 Share on other sites
Blender
Whoa has it been two months already?! Well during that time, I'm afraid I did not paint much. But I managed to paint a castellan: http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7961.jpg http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7965.jpg http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7966-1.jpg and three bolter boys: http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7984.jpg http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv214/BlenderBucket/Black%20Templars/CIMG7983.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181309-some-bt-im-working-on/#findComment-2207452 Share on other sites
Muller
I would suggest toning down your highlights, make it a much darker grey. With this light grey they look kind of dusty Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181309-some-bt-im-working-on/#findComment-2208598 Share on other sites
