FW SW Terminator Upgrade Kit - Good Value

I have just been mixing together the new GW Space Wolf Terminator boxed set with the Forge world Space Wolf upgrade kit.

You can actually make 2 squads of 5 Terminators (one CC pack and one Fire Fight pack) cheaper than buying two boxes of Terminators.

The FW kit is ~19 pounds including posage (to australia) and comes with bodies (two of which have the heads with long hair and beareds sculpted on) and shoulderpads.

The GW kit has heaps of bits so it gives enough arms to do both squads (I made 4 Wolf Claws with a heavy flamer and 4 storm bolter power fist with and assault cannon) and enough bare heads that all 10 terminators can have a different head.

The only thing you are missing is legs, there are several bits sellers on ebay who stock these for around US$10 for a set of 5.

All up thats (forgive the Australian price calculations, I am sure it is similar for people in other regions).

Terminator Boxed Set - AU$69 (if you pay full retail)

FW upgrade kit - ~AU$33 (+ postage, at current exchange rates)

Extra Legs - ~AU$15 (inc postage)

Total Cost extra 5 AU$48

So it will only cost ~70% of the retail cost of a box of Space Wolf Terminators to make an extra squad from the spare parts.

Just to be sure, has the FW upgrade kit changed then?

I ask because I've used several FW upgrades on my TDA, last one about six months ago, and so know for sure that the FW kits didn't use to come with legs or bases - just heads, torsos and shoulder pads. If this has changed, that is awesome news!

The new Wolf Guard Terminator box comes with:

5 helmeted heads

7 bare heads

5 torsos

5 legs

4 pairs of lightning claws

4 pairs of thunder hammers and storm shields

2 chainfists

3 power fists

5 storm bolter arms

1 power sword/thunder hammer arm (the hand + sword/hammer is separate from the arm)

6 sets of shoulder pads

The Forgeworld upgrade pack comes with:

5 torsos (2 have heads)

5 sets of shoulder pads

Easily more than enough, as like the OP said, you get 5 extra legs + bases.

i havent had any trouble

maybe your superglue isnt strong enough?

Yeah, I have not had trouble either. Only problem I've had with FW stuff is flash (but the sW stuff was less so vs plague marines and khorne zerkers)

I bought the assault on black reach kit.

then swapped the orc half with a guy who also bought Assault on black reach for his marines....

With minor modifactions the new termi box set was enough to kit out 12 of the 15 termis exactly how I wanted with lots of bits still left over....

So where is the best place to get Assault Cannons for terminators if they don't come in the box set?

And a Cyclone Missle Launcher for that matter..

Battle Wagon Bits from the Warstore or blackdagger games off of ebay. thats what i use for bitz.

The Wolf Guard Terminator box comes with an Assault Cannon (with a sick belt-fed mechanism) and a Heavy Flamer. What it does not have is a Cyclone.

Ahh I was using the list above to tell me what was in the SW terminator box set as I will pick my two up with the two Battleforce box sets I ordered.

The FW terminators glued together fine with GW parts for me. A mold release agent is applied to all FW parts which requires washing off with warm soapy water before gluing (sometimes you are ok without if there isn't much left on).

With 5 extra legs and bases from ebay I ended up making.

4 Wolf Guard terminators with twin wolf claws.

1 with a heavy flamer (and power fist)

2 with power weapons and storm bolters

1 with power fist and storm bolter

1 with chain fist and storm bolter

1 with an assault cannon (and power fist)

Left over I have 3 thunder hammer right arms, 2 storm sheild left arms and 2 storm bolter right arms.
